“At weddings, this is how it’s done, it’s a rule”.
It’s a phrase I hear repeated often, when discussing roles or important moments connected to the big day.
In reality, many of these “rules” are not rigid impositions, but rather the result of customs that have developed over time and continue to evolve.
This applies not only to Italian traditions, but to those of other Countries as well. Good manners, after all, naturally adapt to social and cultural change.
The situation is quite different when it comes to ceremonial practice and protocol in the strict sense (such as State protocol) which follows precise and codified rules that are extremely difficult to alter.
These are systems designed for institutional settings.
In the video, I thought it might be interesting to offer a glimpse of this distinction.
Wedding ceremony, however, belongs to an entirely different sphere.
While it is neither rigid nor compulsory, it carries a deep and by no means secondary significance. In this sense I think it could be a valuable tool.
I’ll be sharing more, should you wish.
Do you?
