The Duke’s Tastings

Six events from June to September will accompany you from sunset onwards to toast the most “sparkling” season of the year in one of the most fascinating places in our region: the Granducal Estate of Dolciano.

Two locations, the splendid gardens of the villa and the ancient Duke’s Stables.

At each event at 7:00 PM, it will always be possible to visit the Tenuta di Dolciano with our guide.

All events are by reservation with limited places.

Guided tours of the estate will also be possible, by reservation, on other days or times of the week.

Le Degustazioni del Granduca

Sei appuntamenti tra giugno e settembre vi accompagneranno dall’ora del tramonto in poi per brindare alla stagione più “frizzante” dell’anno in uno dei luoghi più affascinanti del nostro territorio: la Tenuta Granducale di Dolciano.

Due le location, gli splendidi giardini della villa e le antiche Scuderie del Granduca.

Ad ogni appuntamento alle ore 19:00 sarà sempre possibile visitare con nostra guida la Tenuta di Dolciano.

Tutti gli eventi sono su prenotazione con posti limitati.

Le visite guidate alla Tenuta saranno sempre possibili, su prenotazione, anche in altri giorni o orari della settimana.

In the heart of Tenuta Dolciano stands the magnificent Church of San Leopoldo, a historic gem built by the Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1787.
Originally hosting weddings for the Duchy, it now serves the province of Siena.
Bishop Giuseppe Pannilini, a notable Italian Catholic bishop of Chiusi and Pienza, requested the church's construction.

In 1824, Grand Duke Leopoldo II expanded and completed the buildings of Dolciano. Responding to the population's complaints about the church's size and simplicity, Leopoldo Il added a circular part with a lowered dome and semi-arched windows in 1835.

Today, Tenuta Dolciano offers both religious and civil wedding ceremonies in this beautiful and historic setting.

Sarà un’esperienza unica vedere il nostro piccolo museo, che mostra i certificati dell’azienda agricola (1867), gli attrezzi agricoli per la produzione di vino e olio, la selleria e una importante collezione ornitologica di fine 800.

Il percorso racconta la vita e l’eredità di oltre 100 anni dell’azienda agricola della tenuta di Dolciano.

It will be a unique experience to see the old barn, now a museum, that showcases all the certificates of the farm (1867), the agricultural tools used for wine and oil production, the saddlery, and an important ornithological collection (1900). It features more than 100 years of the life and legacy of Dolciano farm and estate.

🇺🇸On December 24, 1864, Dolciano was purchased by the brothers Filippo and Eugenio Bologna, residents of San Casciano dei Bagni. In addition to completing the last embankments, they finished the construction of the villa as it appears today.

After Filippo's death, his son Francesco became the owner of the Dolciano estate. Francesco completed the last embankment of the reclamation and built new farmhouses.

In the early 1900s, he renovated the Church of San Leopoldo, rebuilding the dome with a skylight. He added the front with the colonnade as it is currently visible.

He was among the first to introduce the ten-year rotation of the fields to prevent their depletion. He was also among the first to introduce the use of natural fertilizer called "Guano." With him, the first experiments of mechanized plowing were carried out.

🇮🇹 Il 24 dicembre 1864, Dolciano fu acquistato dai fratelli Filippo ed Eugenio Bologna, residenti a San Casciano dei Bagni. Oltre a completare gli ultimi argini, essi terminarono la costruzione della villa così come appare oggi.

Dopo la morte di Filippo, suo figlio Francesco divenne il proprietario dell'azienda agricola Dolciano. Francesco completò l'ultimo argine della bonifica e costruì nuovi casolari.

All'inizio del 1900, restaurò la Chiesa di San Leopoldo, ricostruendo la cupola con un abbaino. Aggiunse inoltre la facciata con il colonnato che è visibile oggi.

Francesco fu uno dei primi ad introdurre la rotazione decennale dei campi per evitare il loro impoverimento. Fu anche uno dei pionieri nell'utilizzo del concime naturale chiamato "Guano". Insieme a lui furono effettuati i primi esperimenti di aratura meccanizzata.
