Going out with a bang… literally. 💥🎶

Today’s soundtrack comes with explosions, comic-book style, and some really cool cover art.

The Cop Show Themes by Henry Mancini (1976) is an original pressing with famous TV themes. I actually bought it because of the drum break at the beginning of “Police Woman Theme”. 💣

And then there’s Bang for the Buck by Ugly Duckling (2006), full of jazz and funk grooves, classic beats, and a cover that always catches the eye. My favorite track is “Let It Out” with that amazing Roberto Roena sample. 😍

Two completely different records… but somehow they look perfect together. 💥💿

Jazz meets deep house. ✨

Really happy to finally add this one to my collection.

I’ve been enjoying these Joe Claussell reinterpretations of Pharaoh’s Message by Emanuele Cisi. Deep grooves, beautiful percussion and a spiritual vibe throughout.

Definitely a record I’ll be coming back to.

Today, spending time with these records reminded me of the extraordinary impact Manzel’s music has had on funk, hip hop and sampling culture. From Midnight Theme to Space Funk and Sugar Dreams, these grooves continue to resonate decades after they were created.

What makes this moment especially meaningful is the feeling that this music, its history and its message have been passed on directly from the source.

As DJs, collectors and music lovers, we are only temporary custodians of these stories. We don’t own them. We carry them forward.

And now, we have a mission.

RIP to Rob Base. 🙏🏻 ❤️

Thank you for one of the records that made me fall in love with hip hop when I was a little girl.

Back when I knew very little about this music, but I could already feel the vibes that moved me. I was just obsessed with hearing DJs cut this up on mixtapes.

I still feel that energy.

“It takes two to make a thing go right…”
…and this one helped shape an entire culture.
