One year ago, Joanna and Andrzej added their own story to a place that had already lived through centuries of stories.

An Italian borgo was never meant to be a wedding venue. It was built to be lived in.
And when you choose a place like Castello di Lippiano, in Umbria, there is very little need to recreate an “Italian style” around your wedding.
Italy is already there.

In the old stone walls and courtyards. In dinner unfolding beneath the castle. In the kitchen coming alive behind the scenes. In the landscape, in the food, and in the natural rhythm of people gathering and celebrating together.

And this is what makes getting married in an Italian borgo feel so authentic: you don’t have to make your wedding look Italian.
You can simply allow it to belong to the place.

A year ago, Joanna and Andrzej did exactly that, filling these centuries-old spaces with their families, their friends and a new story to remember.

Happy anniversary, Joanna & Andrzej. 🤍

Can a destination wedding really be sustainable?
Comment “ITALY” and we’ll send you the link to our new Ultimate Guide to Planning a Sustainable Wedding in Italy.

A destination wedding will always involve travel, resources and an environmental impact. So, when we decided to write about sustainability, we didn’t want to create another list of things couples should or shouldn’t do.

Instead, we started with a more realistic question: once you’ve decided to celebrate in Italy, which choices can genuinely make a difference?

And this is where sustainability becomes particularly interesting.
Choosing what is local, seasonal, already available or made nearby can help reduce unnecessary impact, but it can also shape a wedding that feels more connected to its destination — through its food, landscape, craftsmanship, architecture and the people who live and work there.

Our new guide explores this approach across the entire planning process, from venues and guest travel to catering, flowers, design, stationery, fashion and budget.
Not a guide to the “perfectly sustainable” wedding. A guide to making more conscious choices where they genuinely matter.

Your wedding experience begins long before your guests arrive in Italy.

For many of them, the invitation is the very first glimpse of what you are creating: not only where and when you will celebrate, but how the wedding will feel.

Its design, wording and details begin to set expectations, creating a sense of atmosphere and giving guests a first idea of the experience that awaits them.

This becomes even more important for a destination wedding in Italy, where guests are not simply attending a wedding. They are travelling, often staying for several days, and becoming part of a celebration that extends beyond a single moment.

That is why destination wedding invitations and wedding stationery should never feel disconnected from the experience itself. They should be the beginning of the same story.

If you are currently planning your wedding in Italy, save this post for when it’s time to think about your invitations. 🤍

Every couple has a Pinterest board. But no two weddings should ever feel alike.

Inspiration is where every wedding begins.
It helps couples imagine colours, textures, flowers and atmospheres, giving shape to the celebration they’re dreaming of.

But a wedding should never be a copy of someone else’s vision.

As the planning unfolds, every inspiration is reinterpreted through the couple’s personalities, the place they’ve chosen and the way they want everyone to experience the day. Little by little, those references stop belonging to Pinterest and become something entirely their own.

Sometimes the final result looks remarkably close to the original inspiration. Other times it evolves, adapting to the venue, the season or new ideas that emerge along the way. And quite often, that’s exactly what makes it even more beautiful.

Because the most memorable part of a wedding can never be captured on a moodboard.

It’s the atmosphere, the conversations around the table, the emotion, the laughter and the feeling your guests take home with them long after the celebration has ended.

That’s why our role isn’t simply to recreate beautiful images. It’s to transform inspiration into an experience that feels deeply personal.

The photographs will remind you of how your wedding looked.
The experience is what you’ll remember forever.

A destination gives you a backdrop, local craftsmanship gives you a sense of place.
The difference may seem subtle, but it’s what transforms a beautiful wedding in Italy into one that couldn’t have happened anywhere else.

When you choose handcrafted ceramics, paper from an Italian paper mill, woven linen or embroidered details created by local artisans, you’re not simply selecting beautiful objects.
You’re inviting the history, traditions and people of that place to become part of your celebration.

These details don’t just tell your guests where they are, they create a connection that can’t be replicated.
Because while many destination weddings take place in Italy, only some truly belong to it.

This is the heart of The Italian Way: not recreating an idea of Italy, but allowing the people, traditions and craftsmanship of this country to shape an experience that is uniquely yours.

At Romantica Italia, this belief has become part of our mission.
It’s the reason we created Artisans of Love: a community of talented local artisans and professionals whose work carries the identity of this country and gives every celebration a genuine sense of place.

Because we believe the most unforgettable weddings aren’t defined only by where they are celebrated, but by the people who help bring them to life.

The creations featured in this post include the craftsmanship of Busatti, Daniela ceramiche imperfette and the ancient art of Tombolo lace.

A wedding planner isn’t there to run your wedding. She’s there to protect your experience of it.

When couples choose to have a destination wedding in Italy, they often imagine the beautiful moments they’ll remember forever.
What they don’t always see is everything happening behind the scenes to make those moments possible.

While you’re getting ready, greeting your guests, walking down the aisle or simply enjoying a conversation with the people you love, dozens of little things are happening in the background.

A timeline is being followed.
A supplier has a question.
A bouquet needs to be delivered.
A chair needs moving.
The photographer needs five extra minutes.
The musicians are waiting for their cue.

None of these moments should ever reach you.

That’s the role of a wedding planner.
To anticipate, coordinate and solve countless small details before they become something you need to think about.

Whether we’re planning an intimate celebration or a multi-day destination wedding in Italy, our goal is always the same: allowing you to be fully present, while we take care of everything happening behind the scenes.

Because your attention belongs somewhere else.
With the people you’ve chosen to celebrate with.

That’s what we’re there for. 🤍

There is so much more to an Italian wedding than beautiful venues and iconic landscapes.
What makes a celebration truly feel Italian often isn’t immediately visible. It’s found in the way people are welcomed, in the value of craftsmanship, in regional traditions, in seasonality, in the culture of gathering around a table, and in countless small details that have been passed down over generations.

These are the things that inspired us to create “The Italian Way”.

A series where we’ll share the values, traditions and cultural nuances that shape the Italian way of celebrating, and explore how they can inspire destination weddings that feel authentic, personal and deeply connected to the place where they’re celebrated.

Not to encourage couples to copy traditions.
But to help them understand the meaning behind them, and choose the ones that truly resonate with their own story.

If you’ve chosen Italy for your wedding, we hope this series helps you see it with new eyes.
Save this first chapter, and join us for the next one. 🤍

Every detail you see was once just a plan.
Long before Taylor & James walked down the aisle, every space had already been carefully designed.
Not because a wedding should follow a script, but because thoughtful planning gives everyone the confidence to be fully present when the day finally arrives.

The ceremony, the tablescape, the dinner under the castle... each element was imagined, discussed, refined and shared with the couple long before it became reality.

Of course, a wedding is never an exact copy of a rendering. Flowers have their own movement, light changes throughout the day, and people bring every space to life in ways no mockup ever could.

Planning isn’t about predicting every detail.
It’s about creating the conditions for something even more beautiful to happen.

It’s hard to believe this day was once just an idea.

For a year and a half, Taylor & James’ wedding lived in conversations, mood boards, timelines and countless decisions. Then, one day, it all came to life.

Seeing that vision become a real celebration is one of the most rewarding parts of our job.

The flowers were in place. The music began. Guests arrived. And the day unfolded with elegance, warmth and joy.

And none of it would have been possible without the collaboration of an incredible team of professionals, each bringing their talent and dedication to create one unforgettable celebration.

Thank you, Taylor & James, for trusting us with your celebration in Italy.
