SILAMBAM is considered to be one of the most ancient martial arts of India. It is widely practiced taught and learnt in the entire Tamil Nadu state of India, and in countries like Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Singapore with a sizeable Tamil population. It is a martial practice with defence and offence tactics using a six feet long staff usually made of bamboo or any such strong stick from a locally grown tree. The pace of attack and defence varies depending on the circumstance and the strength and intention of the adversar(ies)y.
