It’s disappointing to see that no football team from Jammu & Kashmir has qualified for the second round of any national-level championship this season, across all age categories.
The same outcome was seen in the Santosh Trophy, where despite having many “star” players, the team could not make it past the group stage.
This forces us to reflect seriously — when will J&K football start showing its real presence at the national level? Talent alone is not enough; vision, planning, and long-term development matter equally.
Maybe it’s time to give genuine new and hungry players a fair chance in the Santosh Trophy setup, players who are performing on the ground and are eager to prove themselves. Fresh energy, accountability and transparency can bring the change we all want to see.
J&K has immense raw talent — what we need now is the right direction. ⚽
