A thumping 41 run win ends the dream season for Mumbai Indians as they are crowned champions for Season 8. Rohit Sharma continued his love affair with the Eden Gardens with yet another well built half century. After an early wicket, the skipper made a 119 runs partnership with Lendl Simmons and both the batsmen cemented a great platform for the team. And after that, Ambati Rayudu and Kieron Pollard built the remaining part. Great batting display and a very sloppy fielding from helped Mumbai to get pass 200.
In the reply, Dwayne Smith stood firm at the crease but he didn't get any kind of support from the other end. Michael Hussey looked completely out of touch but Mr. IPL Suresh Raina assisted some resistance to bowlers but Harbhajan Singh got rid of him, it was a complete Mumbai Show at the Edens. Mohit Sharma provided some late blows but it was too late for the Team in yellow. Dwayne Smith fought a lone battle for Chennai Super Kings tonight. But it just wasn't their day.
Rohit Sharma was awarded the man of the match for his captain's innings of 50 off just 26 balls.

In the head to head battle, Mumbai has an edge over Chennai as they won 11 of the 21 matches between them.

A VICTORY IN NAIL-BITER CARRIES CSK IN THE FINAL FOR 6TH TIME

Michael Hussey ,their old savior came again with a helping hand by scoring a well built half century (56 off 46) on slow track after Nehra's impressive bowling show and helped his team on the way of Kolkata. It looked like wicket of local boy MS Dhoni to provide some more twist in tail but a single off penultimate ball took them confirmed their ticket to Eden Garden.

After winning the toss,Kohli and company were put in batting because of the dew factor. Royal Challengers Bangalore's skipper couldn't make a big score from his good start. Hero of the eliminator AB De Villiers was also judged leg before. The consistent Ashish Nehra took these mammoth wickets as were put on backfoot from the very start of their innings. Gayle at the one end was slow but firm, but he became the victim of pressure, trying to hit another maximum to Suresh Raina even after hitting 2 sixes.Having got 7 RCB wickets earlier this season, Ashish Nehra bowled superbly this time as well. Dinesh Karthik's 28 and Sarfaraz Khan's cameo of 31 runs took them to mere 139 on a slow track.

got the steady start. Yet again they lost their opener early in form of Dwayne Smith. With the RCB bowlers making the batsmen toil for runs, and with the required run rate well in control, both Hussey and Du Plessis picked up the ones and twos and rotated the strike to consolidate their team’s position. Chahal took 2 important wickets in a single over getting rid of well settled protea T20 captain Faf Du Plessis and CSK's most trustworthy batsman Raina to bring the match in well-balanced condition. 47 run partnership between the 40 years old aussie and the Indian ODI skipper from just 6.5 overs took them closer. A quick 27 runs partnership between Dhoni and Negi took them to 135 but RCB continued to combat, creating problems by taking wickets. Negi went to pavilion by getting run out while the purple cap holder Dwayne Bravo went for a golden duck. Their most economical bowler of the match Ashwin Ravi Official assured them victory by nudging a single.

Chennai Super Kings will meet Mumbai Indians again in the finals on 24 May.

RCB TO KNOCK THE DOORS OF FINAL IN DHONI'S HOMETOWN

After circumventing the Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore will look forward to knock the doors of final, but this time they are dealing with the team which will be more of the home team as MS Dhoni's team is playing in his hometown Ranchi.

Only one team in the history of the IPL - Indian Premier League has won the all two knockout games. will be up against that side and will be hoping to become the 2nd team in the history to do so.

was the first team to qualify for the playoffs and ended up being the top team in league stage. However they could not get better of Mumbai Indians and now they have to take the longer route of having to play in Qualifier 2 in Ranchi.

RCB missed the chance of getting in the top two courtesy of rain.Hence they had to take the longest route – Eliminator-Qualifier2 – to get to the Final. They cleared the first obstruction pretty easily and they are just two steps away from their destination.

Steamy RCB is in red hot form as they will want to ride on their momentum to beat the yellow army. They have won 6 of their last eight completed matches, while their opponents CSK have won only 3 of their last eight matches.

In both league games, CSK were able to close RCB out.In the absence of Brendon McCullum, CSK will need their biggest match-winner over the years – Suresh Raina – to step up, and now! The left-hander has been hitting ball well, but just two half-centuries from him in a season both against RCB but has not been able to contribute as much as he did.
On the other side the top 3 of RCB are in good form. Their middle order is also doing well with likes of Mandeep Singh Official, Dinesh Karthik. Mitchell Starc leading the pace attack very beautifully. Overall it will be a captivating contest.

The winner will progress to Eden Gardens to meet fearless Mumbai Indians on 24.

ROYAL CHALLENGERS TO PLAY AGAINST CHENNAI SUPER KINGS IN RANCHI

The Royal rumble at MCA pune turned out to be a shoo-in for the red hot Royal Challengers Bangalore as they outclassed Rajasthan Royals in every department.

After winning the toss, the got off to a slow start. The pitch was two-paced somewhat green, assisting the fast bowlers early on. They lost their in form openers below 50,in turn exposing their middle order which has not been able to put up a descent performance. AB de Villiers 66(38)started slowly, took the charge once he settled. He was outstanding once again. He didn't lose his temper, the moment he read the surface he started to make counter-attack. Ankit Sharma was the one to suffer as de villers scored 20 runs in a single over. Unbeaten Mandeep Singh Official 54*(34) got off to a good start and more importantly,he played sensible cricket, providing a firm support at the other end. These two put 113 game changing stand. RCB sneaked 86 runs of last 6 and built up a competitive total of 180. Dhawal Kulkarni was only notable bowler getting rid of both Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle - Spartan.

Faced with a competitive target of 181, Rajasthan Royals were pushed on the backfoot very early in their chase. Shreenath Arvind took wicket of dangerous Shane Watson before fall of Sanju Samson who turned out to be the victim of Harshal Patel.
Then the batting line up collapsed like bungalow of cards. Ajinkya Rahane Official at the other end was gathering the runs before his slog-sweep landed in the hands of AB de villiers. Then it was just a matter of time for RCB as no one in the middle order could hold up in front of splendid bowling attack. RCB bowlers used ball like knife of a surgeon - clinical as they crunched RR by 71 runs.

Rajasthan Royals have the upper hand when it comes to middle order as RCB were not as good as RR in the middle order. Not to forget these two will be up against the man in form Mitchell Starc and this is going to be fascinating contest.

Mumbai fix their spot in Final

Mumbai Indians are galloping on their fearless, victorious momentum. They outclassed Chennai Super Kings as they will march their ways directly towards Kolkata. And what a turnaround this has been ! They traveled all the way from the bottom of the table and became the first team to qualify the finals, winning 9 of their last 11 games.
After winning the toss on the home ground, opted to bat, which their openers proved right by making a consolidated 1st wicket partnership of 90 before fall of Parthiv Patel, Simmons made a terrific half century 65(51). After losing Simmons, the skipper could not convert a good start into something huge. Bravo asked them questions as the batting side was in pressure after dismissal of Rohit Sharma. Wickets were falling regularly but big man Pollard made sure that run rate doesn't get hampered. His astonishing fireworks helped them to score 187 runs.
The table toppers started stuttering. Smith fell early to a wrong decision. Mr. Cricket was looking nice but he gave away his wicket. Suresh Raina's promising start was hampered by Bhajji and he got rid of MS Dhoni on very first ball as well. Protea T20 captain Faf Du Plesis, who was playing beautiful cricket, got out because of huge mountain of required run rate. The spinners duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin looked impressive but they were unable to take their side home. Mumbai's disciplined bowling attack lead by Malinga and Bhajji reduced them to 162.
Kieron Pollard was awarded man of the match for his match decisive 41 off 17.
CSK will play against the winner of tomorrow's match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2.

Welcome to the and Get ready for one of the greatest games in . The most consistent teams in the IPL, Chennai Super Kings will face fearless Mumbai Indians who will put everything on the stake for that spot in the final. The season had ups and downs. They didn't do well in the away matches this year and after those 4 straight defeats at the start of the tournament, won 8 of their remaining 10 and shockingly clinched the 2nd spot. And having the qualifier 1 in their own den, Rohit Sharma's side will definitely look to take the advantage of the home ground, home pitch and of course, home crowd. MS Dhoni's side will miss Brendon McCullum who was their best performer this season and the arrival of England international Alex Hales will add to the table toppers' woes. Even though the head to head battle is tied at 10-10, Mumbai have a grip on the results at Wankhede, leading the head to head battle at Wankhede by 4-2. The winner of this match will directly go through to the finals. But the loser of this game gets a second chance and will have to face the winner of the Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals. So overall it will be a stiff challenge for the Men in yellow, if the home side Men in blue will carry on the momentum and take the advantages of their home game.
