A VICTORY IN NAIL-BITER CARRIES CSK IN THE FINAL FOR 6TH TIME
Michael Hussey ,their old savior came again with a helping hand by scoring a well built half century (56 off 46) on slow track after Nehra's impressive bowling show and helped his team on the way of Kolkata. It looked like wicket of local boy MS Dhoni to provide some more twist in tail but a single off penultimate ball took them confirmed their ticket to Eden Garden.
After winning the toss,Kohli and company were put in batting because of the dew factor. Royal Challengers Bangalore's skipper couldn't make a big score from his good start. Hero of the eliminator AB De Villiers was also judged leg before. The consistent Ashish Nehra took these mammoth wickets as were put on backfoot from the very start of their innings. Gayle at the one end was slow but firm, but he became the victim of pressure, trying to hit another maximum to Suresh Raina even after hitting 2 sixes.Having got 7 RCB wickets earlier this season, Ashish Nehra bowled superbly this time as well. Dinesh Karthik's 28 and Sarfaraz Khan's cameo of 31 runs took them to mere 139 on a slow track.
got the steady start. Yet again they lost their opener early in form of Dwayne Smith. With the RCB bowlers making the batsmen toil for runs, and with the required run rate well in control, both Hussey and Du Plessis picked up the ones and twos and rotated the strike to consolidate their team’s position. Chahal took 2 important wickets in a single over getting rid of well settled protea T20 captain Faf Du Plessis and CSK's most trustworthy batsman Raina to bring the match in well-balanced condition. 47 run partnership between the 40 years old aussie and the Indian ODI skipper from just 6.5 overs took them closer. A quick 27 runs partnership between Dhoni and Negi took them to 135 but RCB continued to combat, creating problems by taking wickets. Negi went to pavilion by getting run out while the purple cap holder Dwayne Bravo went for a golden duck. Their most economical bowler of the match Ashwin Ravi Official assured them victory by nudging a single.
Chennai Super Kings will meet Mumbai Indians again in the finals on 24 May.
