First a degree and a job in Engineering, a Diploma in Fine Arts, then a stint in Vocal Hindustani Classical music, and then a few years with percussion instruments, the journey to explore the creative side of life had myriad hues for Soumen. The concepts of light and shade which were learnt as a painter made him see the world in a different light. Soumen is a Contemporary Wedding Photographer and
belongs to the school of Fine Art Photography. He likes to capture the Candid-moments "as seen". The most unique quality of his work is the art of capturing the real emotion of the moment and little details that tell you the story. His style of photography is a perfect blend of non-intrusive documentary and artistry where people are candid, casual and at their best. Soumen's endeavor during every wedding shoot is not just to capture the images, but to get to the soul of it. Candid photography is photography that focuses on spontaneity rather than technique, capturing naturally occurring moments rather than focusing on setting up a staged situation or on preparing a lengthy camera setup.
