My approach applies fine art photography to the living, breathing, fast-moving phenomenon and country’s obsession that is a wedding. Yes, I do some documentary photography, you need to capture the important moments at a wedding but I also compose and direct. For me, it’s all about making something beautiful, even if I have to immerse myself into it. Ultimately, my goal is to craft vibrant, energet

ic, fine art images that are as unique as the people in the photograph. Accolades

The traditional musicans from Assam from the 5th episode, another favorite from season 2. One of the challenges of this episode was shooting the same subjects in a confined space with 4 other photographers and a TV crew and still managing to get a clean and an interesting perspective. We were all rolling in sand, shooting down up to avoid each other in our frames. I ended up using my then new purchase 14-24mm for all the episodes. For the first time I realized the dramatic effects of extreme wide angles in documentary, even for portraits. Of course now I have shifted to my new obsessions which I ll talk about soon once the telecast happens. Hope you guys are enjoying the rewind posts and excited to see me tomorrow at 9pm only on National Geographic Channel.

Double decker root bridge in Cherrapunjee. One more challenging assignment from season 2 in North East of India. 4 hours of one way trekking gets you to this nature's wonder. The bridge is made of natural roots of the trees that the villagers guide in a way that it goes horizontal. It's something you have to see to believe. The bridge is more solid than any man made bridge. It shows what a great architect mother nature is. 1 more day to go. Catch me in action at 9pm tomorrow night only on National Geographic Channel.

So I am finally going to make my first appearance on National Geographic Channel's Cover shot Heritage city season 4 on 7th January 2017 Saturday 9pm only on NGC. Since it's my second time on the show first being season 2, I thought I will do a countdown till Saturday with my favorite images from season 2. This image was from the 9th episode of the show when I was evicted but I still feel it's my best image till date. The photo is the part of the series on the family of brick workers in Majuli. This room is their entire world in one frame and with only so much in the world the mother still finds some happiness for her baby. The village is submerged under water for the whole of rainy season and the room is then converted into a shaft and a boat is used for commuting. Moments like these really humbles you down and makes you reassess your priorities. For people who are partying on Saturday night and can't watch the show the repeat telecast can be seen on 8th January 11am, 9th January 2pm and 12th January 6pm only on NGC. Do watch it. Thank you.
