Globally celebrated vocalist, composer and music director Shankar Mahadevan extends his heartfelt birthday wishes to the legendary maestro Zakir Hussain as he marks his 75th year.

He shares that the most meaningful way to celebrate Zakirbhai is through a concert that honours his unparalleled contribution to music. Recalling the original Heartbeats ensemble, he fondly remembers performing alongside Zakirbhai and distinguished artistes such as A. Sivamani, U. Srinivas, and Selvaganesh Vinayakram.

He expresses happiness that in 2026, Shri Shashi Vyas presents Heartbeats with a remarkable line-up of young prodigies—S. Akash, Mehtab Ali Niazi, Siddhartha Belmannu, Kaushiki Joglekar, Ishaan Ghosh, Shikhar Naad Qureshi, and Swaminathan Selvaganesh—carrying forward this rich musical legacy.

The 137th Pratahswar Concert welcomes the dawn with serene morning ragas on Saturday morning, instead of the customary Sunday.

This special Pratahswar will be held on Saturday, 10th January 2026, from 6:30 a.m. onwards, and will feature the powerful and resonant voice of the talented Hindustani classical vocalist Gandhar Deshpande. He will be accompanied by Praveen Karkare on tabla and Sudhanshu Gharpure on harmonium. Music lovers are invited to immerse themselves in this calm and spiritually uplifting musical experience.

While the January Pratahswar takes place on a Saturday, listeners need not be disappointed. Under the aegis of Pratahswar, the Sunday morning of 11th January 2026 will offer a distinct and equally enriching musical presentation. The morning will be dedicated to Tyagaraja Aradhana, featuring the Pancharatna Kritis, presented by SMP Namasankirtan and INSYNC, with leading vocalists and instrumentalists from Mumbai.

We invite rasikas to mark their calendars for the weekend of 10th and 11th January 2026 for two mornings of contrasting yet complementary musical experiences:
