Beautiful Mandaps//

The mandap is one of the most significant elements of an Indian wedding. Here are some interesting facts about it:

1. Sacred Space – The mandap is where the key wedding rituals take place, including the saat phere (seven sacred vows) around the fire. It symbolizes the foundation of the couple’s new life together.
2. Four Pillars of Strength – Traditional mandaps have four pillars, representing the support of the couple’s parents and families in their marriage.
3. Vedic Origin – The mandap is deeply rooted in Vedic traditions, serving as a sacred canopy where the couple is united in the presence of deities and fire (Agni).
4. Diverse Styles – Mandaps vary based on regional traditions. South Indian weddings often feature a banana leaf-decorated mandap, while North Indian weddings use floral and draped fabric mandaps. Some modern mandaps even incorporate crystal, acrylic, and LED lighting!
Mandap Designs Have Evolved – While traditionally made of wood, fabric, and flowers, today’s mandaps can be floating on water, set on cliffs, or even suspended in mid-air, making them a stunning focal point of the wedding.
6. Mandap Placement Matters – In Hindu traditions, the mandap is often placed facing the east, aligning with the rising sun, which symbolizes new beginnings and divine blessings.
7. Eco-Friendly Mandaps – With sustainability in focus, many couples now opt for biodegradable mandaps made of bamboo, recycled wood, and locally sourced flowers.

In December 2024, Andrea and Vishva got married!

Andrea wore a stunning red dress, unlike anything we had ever seen before. Vishva looked sharp as ever in a sleek grey-blue suit.

December was the busiest month we had ever experienced, but nothing in the world could make us love what we did for Andrea and Vishva more. It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience for us, unlike anything we had done before.

DM us for an OTB wedding, you’ll never be disappointed!

Postcards from Karjat// Disha and Utkarsh

Disha and Utkarshs day was an unusually warm December day. The sun shined all day. We met Disha and Utkarsh about a year before this day. Capturing this was best part of the job, because it came with becoming friends with such wonderful people. We took this one in the rush of the never-ending guests before heading to the Sangeet Party, just one day before the wedding.

Another top tip from our Photographer, Gaurav // Photos from Disha and Utkarsh’s wedding

Black and white wedding photos have a timeless, elegant feel that captures pure emotion. Here are some top tips to perfect your shots:

🖤 Focus on Light & Shadows – Contrast is key! Look for dramatic lighting to enhance depth.
🤍 Composition Matters – Use the rule of thirds, leading lines, and symmetry to create visually stunning images.
🖤 Emphasize Emotion – Expressions and gestures shine in monochrome—capture those raw, unfiltered moments.
🤍 Textures & Details – Lace, flowers, and fabric add depth to B&W images, making them more striking.
🖤 Mind the Background – A clean backdrop keeps attention on the couple and their love story.

Disha and Utkarsh // Stills before the wedding

Archaka | Purohit

Our Indian weddings are incomplete without our preist, And their presence holds great significance. They plays a crucial role by officiating the wedding and performing rituals with sacred mantras. He acts as a cultural custodian, ensuring that the rituals align with community customs and preserving their heritage. The priest’s presence is believed to bring blessings for a prosperous marriage, and he ensures that all rituals, such as the ‘saat phere,’ are performed correctly for the marriage to be considered valid. Key rituals include the engagement (Nischay Tamulam), which is a formal family agreement, as well as the Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies, where turmeric and henna are applied to the bride. The Kashi Yatra is another important ritual, symbolizing the groom’s commitment as he pretends to depart for Kashi. Collectively, these rituals emphasize family ties and the sanctity of marriage.

We took this photo at one of the rituals at Sonal and Aditya wedding and honestly it made us think about how Alta is finding its way back into main stream media through fashion, embracing simple wedding customers, etc.

The betel leaves were soaked in water for an extended period to produce a thick red dye, which was then applied to a woman’s feet. The practice dates back to ancient times, with mentions in the Upanishads and references in Kalidas’ Abhijnana-Shakuntalam, where the protagonist Shakuntala is depicted wearing Alta.

to evolve, finding new expressions in modern fashion. The luxury fashion brand Torani recently introduced its ‘Seven Sacred Sins’ collection, featuring women proudly wearing Alta in a refined aesthetic. Alta’s significance is also highlighted in Bollywood films like Devdas and Bajirao Mastani, underscoring its cultural importance and pride in society.
