தைப்பூசத்தன்று முருகனை நினைத்து விரதம் இருந்தால், குடும்பத்தில் செல்வம் பெருகும். கணவன்-மனைவி இடையே ஒற்றுமையும், பாசமும் அதிகரிக்கும். இன்று (புதன்கிழமை) தைப்பூச தினமாகும். தைப்பூசம் என்பது சிவன்-பார்வதி இருவரும் ஒன்றிணைந்து ஆற்றலை வெளிப்படுத்தும் அம்சத்தை குறிக்கிறது. அதாவது சிவன், சூரியனின் அம்சம். அம்பிகை, சந்திரனின் அம்சம் ஆவார்கள். இவர்கள் இருவரும் ஒரே நேர்க்கோட்டில் சந்திக்கும் போது ஆற்றல் உச்சம் பெறும். அதுவே தைப்பூசமாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. தைப்பூசத் தினத்தன்று தான் அசுரர்களை அழிக்க முருகப்பெருமானுக்கு அம்பிகை ‘வேல்’ வழங்கினார். எனவே தான் முருகனின் அருளைப்பெற விரும்புபவர்கள் தைப்பூச தினத்தன்று விரதம் இருந்து முருகனை வழிபடுவார்கள்..
