Regarded as the spiritual capital of India, Varanasi draws millions of pilgrims each year to the sacred River Ganges to wash away their sins.

It's also where newly weds visit other side of the Ganges to take bliss in a ceremony so that the two souls become one. On my personal quest to find cultural weddings around the world, I was privileged to witness one of these ceremonies.

To symbolise prosperity the bride holds a pot of gold.Garlands of marigolds are presented to the grooms.
After that newly married couple perform rituals according to Hinduism in the front of Maa Ganga at Varanasi ghat, for their healthy, wealthy and happy life. 🌹

As per Hindu tradition, when the idol of Goddess Durga is prepared, four things are very important. These include mud from the banks of the Ganga, cow dung, cow urine and soil from outside brothels, known as ‘Nishiddho Pallis’, without which the idol is considered incomplete.

According to traditional beliefs, the soil should be begged and received from a s*x worker's hand as a gift and blessing since it is known as 'punya mati' or the sacred soil and was earlier collected by the priest. Nowadays it is collected by the person who makes the idol, months before the festivities.

My Uncle Paresh Saha is a whole saler and business man of sarees.
When I told him about our steps towards "THEM", he immediately responded and told me he will provide the sarees in retail price without any profit.

My Brother Niloy Saha told me that he will provide t-shirts from his own company HIJIBIZI.

Surya Shankar Roy informed me that "LaughaLaughi" will bear every bit of expenses of journey and the director of SHABSHAKO, Sourav Bisai also will take care of the monetary expenses...

Biswajit a man of 21 year old informed this morning that he will spend his puja pocket money for our noble work...

And You Know??
For whom we are doing all these things... ??
For whom we are doing these noble work... ??

For the members or you may say Sex-workers from NISHIDDHO PALLIS (FORBIDDEN PLACE)...
And we have to do this...
Because without the soul from their place...idol maker can't even built the sacred idol of Devi Durga.

They are also our Durgas in various formation. And we must serve our Mothers.

As told in PURANAS when Devi Durga was getting ready to move towards battle field to destroy Mahishaasura and his heirs... Devtas or holy men...equiped and armed Her by their divine weapons or ASTRA.

Once again go through the names written... They are also holy men. Who are lending their helping hands by cash and kinds towards us.

So finally We decided that in this Durga Puja we are going to gift clothes and packets of sweets to the 50 s*x-workers.

সকালের একটা ছোট্ট 'ইচ্ছে প্রকাশ' এতটা বাস্তবিক আকার নেবে! বুঝতে পারিনি। অনেক মানুষের সাড়া পেয়েছি সেই পোস্টটা তে; ভেবেছিলাম টাকা জোগাড় না হলেও বিশ্বাসের খামতি হবে না। কিনু সকাল থেকে এখনও অবধি প্রায় ৩০০০/- টাকা মতো উঠেছে!
পরেশ সাহা আমার কাকা হন, কাকুর শাড়ির ব্যাবসা আছে। কাকুকে উদ্যোগের কথাটা জানাতেই কাকু বললেন উনি প্রত্যেকটি শাড়ি কেনা দামে দেবেন, এক পয়সাও মুনাফা রাখবেন না।
আমার ভাই নিলয় সাহা জানিয়েছে ওদের কম্পানি HIJIBIZI র তরফ থেকে কিছু নতুন টিশার্ট দেবে যৌনকর্মীদের পরিবারের লোকজনকে।
Surya Shankar Roy জানিয়েছে LaughaLaughi র তরফ থেকে যাতায়াতের সমস্ত খরচ বহন করবে, এবং
শব্দসাঁকো র কর্ণধার Sourav Bisai এই উদ্যোগে আর্থিক সাহায্য করবে।
সকালে উত্তরপাড়া থেকে বিশ্বজিৎ নামের ২১ বছরের এক যুবক তাঁর পুজোর চারদিনের হাতখরচ আমাদের এই উদ্যোগের জন্য সরিয়ে রাখবে বলেছে।
পূরাণে বলা আছে দেবী দুর্গা পুরুষের সাহায্যে রণে যাওয়ার জন্য প্রস্তুত হয়ে উঠেছিলেন। ভালো করে পড়ে দেখুন, উপরে সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দেওয়া প্রত্যেকজন ব্যক্তিই কিন্তু পুরুষমানুষ! ভালোমানুষ।
এতজন এগিয়ে আসবে দেখে আমরা ঠিক করেছি—
এই পুজোয় ৫০ জন যৌনকর্মীর হাতে নতুন কাপড় আর মিষ্টি তুলে দেবো।
