Rhythm brought us together at a 💫sold out💫sunday morning at Abbey 301 🥁. Our djembe circle led by Akkshay Gupta welcomed people of all ages to create music and find a beat collectively. From tentative taps to uninhibited joy, the space came alive with the sound of many hands, without any need for formal musical training.

It rained like it hasn’t in a thousand years. In the Sahyadris. Our hills. We all felt its effect. People lost livelihoods, homes. Some, their lives.

More events of this nature and ferocity are expected around the world. In an effort to understand deeper the fragility of our systems, human and environmental, Abbey 301 presents the first in a series of environmental conversations.

This day is for us to understand and open conversations about how our actions can affect how we live with our own particular environment and how to address our future in these brittle times.

Pianist Tony Yike Yang has performed in over 60 countries, appearing on prestigious stages including Carnegie Hall. At just 16, he became the youngest laureate of the International Chopin Piano Competition, winning fifth prize in 2015.

He now comes to Abbey 301 with a programme featuring Beethoven’s beloved “Appassionata” sonata, alongside works by Schubert and Chopin.
