On behalf of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati we hereby take immense pleasure in inviting you and your institution to the 19th edition of our annual cultural festival, ALCHERINGA to be held this spring from the 29th Jan to 1st of February, 2015.
Alcheringa, which derives its etymology from an Australian aboriginal mythology and translates to “The Eternal Dreamtime”, is inter alia among the top three cultural festivals of India and the biggest festival of its kind in Eastern India. The sojourn this February has been titled “Magnum Opus”, and might just be the perfect rendezvous for you and your Dream.
Though quite young as compared to most established festivals in the country, Alcheringa receives immense participation from all over the country and witnesses a footfall in the excess of 15000 in the each of the pro-nites alone. With its seamless blend of competitive bout and incessant exuberance, Alcheringa provides the perfect platform to budding artists to show their mettle and also extol their euphoria. It is here that you can be the Rockstar, Singer, Actor, Techie, Luddite, and also win lots!
Alcheringa brings to you four days of exaltation and promises to have you forget all your worries through its exhilarating rock shows, liberating classical performances, modish fashion shows, brain-storming quizzes, nonstop DJ dance floors and lots more with a collective prize money worth more than 10 lakhs. All this on a stage that has continually been graced over the years by behemoths of the entertainment industry like Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Anoushka Shankar, Guitar Legend Michael Angelo Batio, Strings, Shaan, KK, Javed Ali, Euphoria, Remo, The Raghudixit Project, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya, Vir Das, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and has even played host to bands like Junkyard Groove, Brahma, Parikrama, Indian Ocean, Eluveitie (Swiss Folk Metal Band) and Orphaned Land (Israeli Progressive Metal Band) to name a few.
