Nitin Gadkari Reviews Three Odisha NH Projects
BHUBANESWAR: As three road projects running through Sundargarh district are hanging fire for more than a decade, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday reviewed the progress of these projects in New Delhi. Four-laning of Rimuli-Rajamunda section of NH 215 (new NH 520), Panikoili-Rimuli section of NH 215 (new NH 20) and Biramitrapur-Barkote section of NH 23 (new NH 143) was reviewed by Gadkari in the presence of Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had declared the 269 km stretch Panikoili-Rimuli-Rajamunda as NH 215 in 1999 and in 2003, it had sanctioned four-laning of the highway. Oram apprised Gadkari about the dilapidated condition of these roads and public demand to expedite the work. Chairman of NHAI Raghav Chandra assured Oram that majority of the works on the two sections of NH 215 will be completed by June, 2016. Chandra said bidding process for Biramitrapur-Barkote section of NH 23 will start by the end of November, 2015. Gadkari told Oram that a sum of Rs 5.6 crore has been sanctioned for repair and maintenance of the stretch between Koida and Roxy on NH 215 and work will start soon.
