My journey started with a bachelor's in computer followed by an MBA in Marketing. And as usual, I took a job after my master's. But, just a year in 9 to 5 and, I was already pi**ed off. Life seemed monotonous. There was no thrill or excitement in the corporate job. I wished to take up something that would be challenging and would also allow me to be innovative. Just then, I heard of event management. While working, I met a few people who were into this industry. Their work intrigued me thus, in 2003, I stepped into this industry. I understood the basics, gained experience and later started my own company 'Oviyan events and entertainment'. I decided to stick to corporate events and exhibitions.
But in the early 2000s, not many event companies were established. The sector was quite unorganized. We did take time to build contacts however, we did. For about eighteen years now, I have been handling numerous events. And, by god's grace, all my clients are satisfied with my work. They believe in me and, I make sure to never disappoint them. May it be bringing new ideas or solving the existing complications, I take care of everything personally. I remember just a few years back, I organized an event where my team worked for three days continuously without any sleep or breaks. As a result, the final even turned out to be larger than life. And, not for a single second did I feel tired. I love my work and that was more than enough.
But, you know what has been the best part of all of this? I live in Indore with my family and work across PAN India. I do travel to the metropolitans but have no intentions to settle there. I long to come home to a peaceful city after the hustle-bustle of my work life. And as far, I have not faced any issues with it. I successfully manage my work life and personal life until this year. Covid has terribly affected our industries. There are no events and nobody can predict how long our work would be at a standstill. And, we have no option rather wait and hope things would get better soon!
Message- The only people who look forward to Mondays are the ones who love their work and stay loyal to it.
