The Purum tribe is an indigenous tribe of Manipur,
"Purum tribe" is the first settler in the northern part of Manipur since 1725 that was once populated with tigers "Purum Telheiba" title is being given by the King of Kangleipak iningthou Pamheiba( Garibniwas) in the year 1736 with a copper plate which inscribed "Awanglam Pangakpa" guardian of North for his act of bravery.
