Saptaparni

Saptaparni Welcome to the experience called “Saptaparni”… A concept devised to provide your child with an Saptaparni is housed in a bright and airy building.

Saptaparni provides the ideal learning environment, where you and your child are introduced to unique ways of relaxation and intergenerational bonding, even as you acquire new skills. The emphasis is on activities that revive long forgotten Indian traditions and evoke the rich cultural diversity of our heritage. It was designed with a free hand that encompasses a liquid flow of spaces. The design

is flexible and the spaces are not restricted by too many walls. As with the building, so with the ideas-the intention is to facilitate a free flow of thought and energies.

Last night under the moon lit amphitheater at Saptaparni, it was nothing short of mesmerizing. ✨

We gathered for Vanitā in Arts, a deep dive into the exemplar women of Indic Wisdom. Through a powerful samvaada of movement and emotion, these incredible artists brought to life the intrinsic qualities that define the feminine spirit in our mythology:

✨ Viveka (Intellect): Jaya Seal Ghosh embodied the spiritual wisdom of Maitreyi.
✨ Veerya (Fearlessness): Navia Natarajan captured the unrelenting energy of Draupadi.
✨ Vinaya (Humility): Arundhati Patwardhan portrayed the “unselved” grace of Sita.
✨ Vicharaka (Justice): Shivaranjani Harish channeled the power of debate through Ubhayabharati.
✨ Shraddha Arpana (Devotion): A soulful offering by Vaidehi Lal Rele. .dance

A special note of gratitude to Usha RK , who beautifully conceived, conceptualized, and presented this entire evening. Her vision turned these ancient wisdoms into a living, breathing experience that left us all inspired. Thank you for reminding us of our intrinsic strength.

Vanitā (वनिता) in Arts
A samvaada delving into exemplar women in Indic Wisdom. The concept is an ode to the unparalleled characteristics that were in some of the greatest women from Indic Mythology and Wisdom.

An event to remind ourselves of our intrinsic qualities!

The four aspects of Vanitā that we will explore are:

1. Viveka - Intellect - spiritual wisdom - Maitreyi
Viveka is considered as first requirement for the spiritual journey.

2. Vinaya - Humility - Sita:
Humility is defined as being “unselved”-liberated from consciousness of self - a form of temperance that is neither having pride nor indulging in self-deprecation.

3. Veerya - Intellectual Fearlessness - Boudhik nidarta Draupadi:
Veerya Rasa is embodiment of an energetic, determined and unrelenting nature which has no room for surprise or confusion.

4. Vicharaka - Power of debate and justice - Ubhayabharati:
The quality or attributes of Vicharaka or debate and Nyaya or justice are intrinsic to women characters extolled in Indic wisdom.

1. Jaya Seal Ghosh, Kolkata- Maitreyi
2. Navia Natarajan, Bangalore - Draupadi
3. Arundhati Patwardhan, Pune - Sita
4. Shivaranjani Harish, Bangalore- Ubhayabharati
5. Vaidehi Lal Rele Mumbai - Shraddha Arpana

Practice | Process | Performance

Our two-day workshop with Poludas Nagendra Satish .satish.kora (textile design), Sarang Phagre (music) curated and presented by Shruti Mahajan
— explored how music and visual art intertwine, especially through textiles.

Through hands-on making, deep listening, and reflective conversations, participants discovered parallels between spinning yarn and tuning a tanpura, tools and traditions, process and performance.

It all led to one lingering question:
When does process become performance, and performance become process?

Our collaborators :
Mohsin Niyaz Ahmed Mirajkar ( Tanpura maker)
Padma and Suryudu Amma ( Spinners)
Durga Rao ( Spinner)
Pratap Marode ( Farmer )
Rahul Deshpande ( Harmonium)
Vivek Kayal ( Tabla )
Kirti Deshpande ( Tanpura )
Bela Kodgirkar ( Tanpura )
