Hyderabad Dance Festival Hyderabad-held dance festival that will be a first-of-its-kind celebration of the art without any bo P Acharya, IAS (Retd.), Padma Shri Smt. On10th April 2021.

The Hyderabad Dance Festival is under the able guidance of a Board of Advisors including Shri B. Ananda Shankar Jayant, Shri Rajendra Gangani Ji, Shri Sreenath Muthyala and Km. Vyjayanti Vasanta Mogli. The event will be seeing attendance from artists, media, dance enthusiasts and the public from across the country and is an initiative of Udhayam Cultural Foundation, a startup of artists themselves including Harsha Maheshwari, Mohit Shridhar and Vaibhav Kumar Modi. The celebration of dance and music begins with training with internationally acclaimed artists Ryan Martyr and Mohit Shridhar for the first 7 days. This will be followed by a 2-day advanced workshop by the legendary Kathak maestro, Pandit Shri Rajendra Ganganiji, who is going to share his years of global experience with the participants from all over the country. The day begins with panel discussions among the prominent artists of the city and in the evening, Sham-e-Hyderabad will take everyone on a journey of storytelling with Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam, artists like Ryan Martyr and the torchbearer of Jaipur Gharana style of Kathak, Pt. Rajendra Gangani Ji, supported by
Mohit Shridhar, Nish*t Gangani, Aradhna Karhade Shashtri, Swayamsidha. On Sunday, 11th April 2021, an amalgamation of different forms from Kathak to
Cyphers; Belly dance to Ballet; Salsa to Bharatnatyam; Rap to breaking, the city will
witness the 10th edition of Cypher Hours, where the entire dance community
comes together to jam, grow through cyphers and challenge each other by
battling and expressing without any inhibitions. The festival culminates by giving back to the community by bringing art to the
world of underprivileged children and the transgender community of Hyderabad.

Rang-e-Hyderabad — the grand finale of Hyderabad Dance Festival 2026.

One day, three stages, and every colour we could hold. It opened with a Dhrupad aalaap that filled the hall and moved through classical music, poetry, book releases, film screenings, an art bazaar, and conversations around dance, art and Hyderabad. And it closed the way it had to — seven artists and six classical forms on one stage, from Perini and Kuchipudi to Odissi, Bharatanatyam and Kathak. India’s living traditions, alive in one city.

None of it happened alone. Our deepest gratitude to the Government of Telangana, and to our sponsor and venue partner, district150 by Quorum, for making this possible.

A city’s dance culture is not built by a single artist, organisation, or festival. It is built by communities that choose to show up, learn, collaborate, and move together.

We are honoured to be featured in Zoom Delhi’s interview series curated by Sandip Soparrkar, reflecting on the journey of the Hyderabad Dance Festival and the evolving dance ecosystem of our city.

A day shaped by expression, reflection, and meaningful exchange—
where movement became a language of learning, storytelling, and connection.

In collaboration with Rainbow Homes, Day 6 was shared with 30 young participants, placing access, inclusion, and the joy of artistic experience at the heart of the festival. 💛

From A Window into Bharatnatyam with Aditi Rao Ashtaputre,
to The Art of Storytelling through a Classical Dancer’s Lens with Maithri Rao,
and Soma’s Memoirs — The Music and Mind Series with Soumya Varanasi—
each session opened a thoughtful new way of experiencing movement and expression.
