The official opening of the first edition of SIFF 2026 was announced by the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri. Om Prakash Mathur ji, in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay, his spouse and former MLA, Smt. Krishna Kumari Rai, along with senior government officials and dignitaries, on 19 March 2026 at Manan Bhawan, Gangtok.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone in Sikkim’s cultural and cinematic journey, establishing the Sikkim International Film Festival as a platform for artistic excellence, meaningful dialogue, and global creative exchange.
