Uru Paanar brings Thol Talkies to Coimbatore for an intimate indoor screening at the stunning Kayal Wedding Space. This 60-minute performance-film weaves ancient Tamil poetics, reconstructed sound, and visual storytelling into a deeply resonant experience — and the natural, curated setting of Kayal is the perfect backdrop.

Inspired by Tolkāppiyam, the film journeys through the five thinai landscapes and the pozhudhu (times of day), capturing how sound, mood, and land interact in Tamil classical thought.

Featuring rare, reconstructed instruments of Tamilakam — Yazh, Kudamuzha, Kombu, Kokkarai, Thudumbu, Parai, Kuzhal, and the grounding human Kural — the film brings alive the sonic world behind Uru Paanar’s origin-themed act Thol.
