That's what it's all about🎭 We at Theatre No. 59 have large theatrical appetites. Winning is only secondary.

This group started out as a sincere endeavour by a few of us (dramatic) MCCians to resurrect theatre in college. It has gone on to become like a life support system to those of us who live and feed off passion, talent, togetherness and of course, DRAMA! Usually ending up biting off more than we can chew, we still manage to deliver our best because of the committed team we have. A team that loves t

he stage and what comes with it. In a lot of ways we are quite different - the mature professionalism of the team, the attention to minute detail, the tremendous energy on stage and last but not the least the collective passion that drives us. To us, our love for theatre comes first. And thus when victory arrives, it’s that much sweeter! Our success at achieving our main objective has made our group a tighter unit. The theatrical phoenix has risen out of the ashes and flown far.

Devi chronicles the story of a woman whose sister is first sacrificed and then her child is destined to die. She has to transcend Time, break free of her Fate and change her Destiny to save her child. A woman in the world of men... will she save her child from her own family, from this world? Will she become Devi?

Theatre No. 59 secured Third place at Saarang, IIT Madras for our Hindi Play "WAQT" which was led by a 28 member crew. This is a huge accomplishment for Madras Christian College and Theatre No. 59 as we marked our comeback into IIT Saarang after 4 years to once again re-establish ourselves amongst other prominent Theatre groups from all across India.
