Designing a wedding menu is so much more than just choosing dishes off a list. It’s a process. Thoughtful, detailed, and honestly one of the most fun parts of planning. ✨

When we sit down with our couples to build their food menu, we look at everything. What they love eating. What their families enjoy. What kind of experience they want their guests to have. Because the truth is, building a plate for yourself is very different from building a menu for hundreds of guests.

We think about the flow of the meal, the balance of flavours, and even the little details that people often overlook. How will the dish be plated? Will it hold its texture when served to many? Does it feel comforting, exciting, or nostalgic?

Some dishes look beautiful for one plate but behave very differently when served at scale. Some flavours shine better as live counters. Some desserts deserve their own moment. These are the small conversations that slowly turn a list of dishes into a thoughtful dining experience.

And somewhere between tasting sessions, menu mock-ups, and plating trials, the menu begins to feel personal, like a reflection of the couple themselves.

Because at the end of the day, wedding food isn’t just about feeding guests.
It’s about creating moments people remember long after the last plate is cleared.✨

From the very beginning, the feeling we kept returning to was that of an early winter morning at a temple when the air is crisp, the light is soft, and everything feels suspended in quiet reverence. We imagined peacocks resting atop temple walls, still and watchful, as the first rays of sunlight touched stone and silk alike. There’s a calm dignity in that image, something both majestic and deeply grounding and we wanted the celebration to carry that same energy.

We found ourselves inspired not just by memory, but by old paintings that depict these scenes: muted dawn skies, temple silhouettes, peacocks poised in quiet grace. It wasn’t about recreating a literal image, but about capturing the emotion within it. Through restrained richness, layered jewel tones, and thoughtful placement, we tried to let that temple-morning stillness gently unfold throughout the space as if the entire wedding existed in that sacred, unhurried hour.

The Oonjal ceremony was one of those moments we knew had to feel tender and unhurried. There’s something deeply symbolic about the gentle sway of the swing, the rhythm reflecting the ups and downs of married life, and the quiet promise to move through it all together. It’s a ritual that carries both joy and meaning, and we wanted that balance to be felt in the space.
We chose a classic wooden swing, grounding it in tradition, and wrapped it in soft strands of white and red florals to keep the emotion at the forefront. Nothing overpowering, nothing excessive- just warmth, movement, and presence. As the couple swayed, surrounded by family, laughter, and blessings, the moment felt beautifully human. For us, it was a reminder that beyond all design, weddings are about partnership: steady, shared, and full of heart.

For this wedding, we were especially mindful of the fact that it brought together two beautiful worlds - St. Lucia and Tamil traditions, each rich in their own history and meaning. We knew that while the rituals would be deeply sacred, they might also feel unfamiliar to some. The ritual cards were our way of creating a gentle bridge allowing every guest to understand, follow, and emotionally connect with what was unfolding in front of them. It was important to us that no one felt like a spectator; everyone was part of the moment.
We designed the cards as an extension of Mayil Mangalyam, carrying forward the peacock, lotus, and pomegranate, each symbol layered with intention. The peacock for grace and watchful protection, the lotus for purity and divine beginnings, and the pomegranate for abundance and generational continuity. Wrapped in our jewel-toned palette, the cards quietly tied together culture, symbolism, and design. For us, they weren’t just informational pieces; they were storytellers honouring two traditions while allowing them to meet in a way that felt seamless, respectful, and deeply heartfelt.

For us, weddings are not just about what guests see, they’re about what the couple carries with them long after the day ends. We wanted to create something that would outlive the flowers and the festivities, something they could return to years later and still feel that morning. So we placed a live painter right across the mandap, quietly observing as the rituals unfolded.
As the ceremony came to a close, the canvas began to hold it all - the couple, the mandap, and the peacock that had become the heart of Mayil Mangalyam. Watching it come alive in real time felt deeply special. It wasn’t just art; it was memory being preserved. We believe in crafting moments that linger, not just in photographs, but in feeling and this was our way of giving them a piece of their forever.

Amidst all the colour and symbolism, we wanted to create a moment that felt simple and participative. The malipoo cart became that gesture, a way for every guest to personally shower the couple with flowers, love, and blessings. It was designed to feel warm and familiar, almost like something you’d find in a temple courtyard on a festive morning.
Each bunch of malipoo was carefully wrapped in fresh banana leaves and tied with a custom tag that read Kadal, meaning love. It felt important that the ritual wasn’t just observed, but shared. As flowers were picked up and gently offered, the morning filled with fragrance and emotions. Families gathering, cultures intertwining, and two souls stepping forward, surrounded by collective love.

Some of our most meaningful design decisions lived in the accents, the details that quietly held the story together. We knew early on that their initials had to be part of the décor, but not in a way that felt generic. So we created custom wooden cutouts, placing a Va in Tamil and a Z in English, allowing both languages to stand side by side. It was our way of visually representing two cultures meeting with equal presence , not blending into one, but honouring each other fully.
We then layered subtle jewel touches onto the letters, letting them echo the richness of the larger narrative: temple craft, heirloom tones, inherited love. The wood grounded the piece, the jewels elevated it, and together they became more than décor. For us, it was about showing that love is not just a union of two people, but of histories, identities, and traditions. In those initials, carved and adorned, their coming together felt tangible, thoughtful, balanced, and beautifully intentional.
