He never got to bat that day, never got to play for India. Yet, he never dropped the dream
He dominated domestic cricket for 21 years, scoring over 11,000 runs at an average of nearly 50, yet, for some reason, he never got a single chance to play for India.
He retired in 2012 and moved into coaching. In October 2023, he was appointed head coach of the Indian womenβs cricket team at a time when the team was struggling for stability. He led them to an ICC final after eight years, and eventually, to their first-ever World Cup title.
