We all saw somewhere and sometime that few birds standing on one leg but have you wondered why ?

The thing is feet are only place that not covered with feathers and it is the place where heat escapes from its body. As the surroundings and ground is at less temperatures in winters than by keep both feet in the ground, the area from heat escape is double than single foot. So thus how they conserving body heat. Remember in winters you keep your uncover hands in your pockets 🤷‍♂️

Another observation is that few birds just stand long hours, so it is idle for them to save from fatigue on leg muscles just by switching them in rotations.
