Which scene 🎬 do you have in your mind when you’re thinking about this movie? 🍿
"Rockers" (1978) is a Jamaican film written and directed by Theodoros Bafaloukos. The movie features several Reggae musicians, including Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, Burning Spear, Gregory Isaacs, Big Youth, Dillinger, Robbie Shakespeare, and Jacob Miller. The film is culturally authentic to Jamaica, as it was initially supposed to be a documentary.
Several actors starred as themselves in the movie because it showcased them as musicians living among their actual family and community. The soundtrack is a remarkable illustration of Reggae's popularity in the 70s. In "Rockers," there is no exaggeration with overacting drama or extremities that make some movies seem silly. Instead, the film draws you to the people, the music, and the bond to Rasta culture. It's an honest take, which I highly recommend for viewing.

Storyline
Making it in the music business in Kingston, Jamaica, is hard, and nobody knows it better than regularly unemployed drummer Horsemouth (Leroy Wallace). Although talented, he earns little for his music, so he tries selling vinyl records on the side. Horsemouth takes his lumps graciously until some brash local organization members steal his motorbike. Determined to get it back, he and his friends concoct a daring scheme.
