Here’s a little rewind to our wreath making workshop event held at The Red Store, Youghal last night. A full house, a great atmosphere, mulled wine, festive food, and a surprise visit from Santa who handed out chocolate treats to everyone.

Thanks to all who came along and filled the room with Christmas cheer.

🌲 Making a Christmas Swag – 3 Uses, 1 Beautiful Arrangement

Good evening everyone! Tonight I made a traditional Christmas swag, something we do every year here in the shop.

You can use it for:
1️⃣ Your front door
2️⃣ A loved one’s grave
3️⃣ A table centerpiece

It’s made using a shovel base and soaked oasis, filled with greenery from my garden and finished with cones, lotus seed heads, dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, tartan ribbon, and plenty of heart.

🎀 I’ve shared how to wire each piece, make a bow, and fill it properly without wasting a thing.
💚 And don’t forget, if you’ve greenery at home, you can absolutely make your own.

All sundries used in this video are available in the shop:

✔️ Cones, lotus pods, cinnamon sticks, ribbon
✔️ Floral wire (18 gauge), picks, and tools

🕯️ A Christmas Candle Arrangement – Made with Love 🎄

Today I’ve been working on a classic red candle arrangement, perfect for the festive season ahead.

This one’s full of texture and natural beauty, made with:
🌲 Fresh spruce, viburnum, skimmia & holly
🍊 Cinnamon sticks, cones & dried orange slices
🎀 A bold red ribbon and a sweet little Robin to finish it off
🕯️ Topped off with two tapered red candles (candle holders also available in the shop)

And yes, I always reuse my bits and pieces year to year. 😉

It’s not packed with flowers, just greenery, foraged favourites, and festive sundries you can get right here in the shop. Sometimes the simplest things make the most thoughtful gifts.

🌿 Tip of the Week – And No, It’s Not for Hitting Anyone with a Hammer! 😄

(Just your eucalyptus… trust me!)

We’ve fresh Irish eucalyptus outside the shop right now, just €12 a bunch, and it smells amazing 💚

But here’s a trick to help it last longer (and release even more scent):

✂️ Cut the stems diagonally
🔨 Then give the ends a tap with a hammer to split them, this helps the water travel up
💧 Keep an eye on the vase, eucalyptus drinks fast!

✨ Bonus tip: Hang a sprig in your shower, the steam brings out the oils, and it’s great for the sinuses.

Pop down and grab a bunch before it’s gone!

🕯️ All Souls Day – A Thoughtful Gift from Kay’s Flowers 🕯️

Every November, I always feel we should do something special to remember the loved ones we’ve lost.

This year, to mark All Souls Day, I’m offering three people the opportunity to come into the shop and create a special arrangement in memory of someone dear to them.

I've prepared a few examples, including:
🌿 A long-lasting sympathy basket with heather, cyclamen, rose, and ivy
🤍 A classic white wreath with gypsophila and roses
🌸 A soft pink and white posy, perfect for smaller graves
💜 A delicate lilac and white spray, one of my favourites

This is something from the heart, a quiet way to give back during November before the busy Christmas season takes over.

We’re doing a small bit of rebranding at the moment, and I was delighted this week to get these beautiful new floor mats one large and one small with the Interflora logo and Kay’s Flowers printed on them.
