Temple House is a classical Georgian manor set in a private estate of over 1,000 acres, overlooking a 13th century lakeside castle of the Knights Templar. The Perceval family home since 1665, the present manor was redesigned in 1864 and enjoys the authentic and unpretentious country house atmosphere. An historic home offering luxury country house accommodation sleeping up to 20, Temple House Estate is a spectacular wedding venue, a relaxing space for a retreat, a perfect country house for a family gathering or a private corporate meet. You will find on-site boating, SUP, pike fishing, bird watching, terraced gardens and miles of woodland walks. Within easy reach are beautiful beaches, eagles flying, archaeological sites, horse riding, trout fishing and four championship golf courses. Traditional music and dancing sessions can be arranged too. Temple House is an ideal base on the Wild Atlantic Way.

👻 Did you know Halloween has its roots right here in Ireland?

Long before pumpkins, trick-or-treating and fancy dress, there was Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter.

And one of the places most closely associated with it is right here in the west of Ireland.

Oweynagat, the Cave of the Cats, at Rathcroghan in County Roscommon, is steeped in ancient mythology. Known in folklore as a gateway to the Otherworld, it was believed that strange creatures could emerge from the cave at Samhain.

It's quite something to think that a tradition now celebrated around the world has such deep roots in our own corner of Ireland.

(We also think that traditional carved turnips are far more menacing than our American cousin import, the pumpkin! 🎃😮)
