The Manorhamilton One Act Drama Festival returns to The Glens Centre for its 31st year on November 13th to 15th. Over three nights, nine different drama groups compete to qualify for the One Act Finals, and 1 Open and 1 Confined group are crowned the “All Ireland Winners”.

From laugh-out-loud comedies to heart-wrenching tragedies, you can expect a dynamic range of performances. There is something for everyone on each night.

Tommy Sands has long been one of Ireland’s most respected voices in folk music—an artist whose songs carry not just melody, but meaning. From his early days growing up in County Down as part of the Sands Family, he emerged during a turbulent period in Northern Ireland’s history, using music as a bridge across divided communities. Over decades, his work has been recorded by major artists, and his songs—such as There Were Roses—have become touchstones for reflection, reconciliation, and shared humanity.

Now, Sands is embarking on an ambitious and deeply symbolic project: a tour that will bring him to every county in Ireland. This journey is more than a series of concerts—it is a continuation of his lifelong mission to connect people through song. From the director of The Man Who Wanted to Fly, this new documentary tells in a humorous and poignant way the story of Cavan post-punk band the Panic Merchants. Formed by Justin Kelly, son of the exonerated 1970s Arms Trial defendant Captain Jim Kelly, the band members recall the oddness of trying to make it as a band from a remote corner of Cavan.

Forty years later, they are reuniting for a comeback gig in Dublin rock music mecca Whelan's of Wexford Street. “Bunch of old fellas? Bellies? Pints? Whelan’s!” someone concludes.
