Need a little sewing therapy?

Then treat yourself to a weekend at The Old Rectory Country House Quilting Retreats in Leitrim — where the tea is always hot, the conversation flows easily, and nobody is asking you where their socks are.

This is your chance to step away from work, family responsibilities, endless to-do lists, and the guilt of taking time for yourself… and spend a whole weekend doing something you genuinely love.

Whether you’re new to quilting or have years of experience (and a fabric stash hidden from your family), you’ll enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere filled with creativity, laughter, inspiration, and uninterrupted sewing time.

Over the weekend you will:

Learn new quilting tips and techniques
Get confident combining colours and patterns
Share ideas with like-minded women
Finally finish something you started three years ago

Or simply enjoy sewing in peace without interruptions

And because this is a retreat, not a race, there’s also plenty of time to relax, enjoy delicious home-cooked food, endless tea and homemade treats, and maybe even a soak in the hot tub with a glass of wine and zero guilt.

You’ll head home refreshed, inspired, and already planning your next project — and possibly your next retreat too.

Your weekend includes:

Two nights B&B accommodation
Two lunches
Two delicious dinners
Tea breaks with homemade goodies
Use of the hot tub
A warm, welcoming weekend with fellow quilters
Price: €405 per person sharing
Single supplement: €90 per person

This weekend I turned 60 a significant milestone in life. I have always marked my significant Birthdays with travel and for those who know me well you will say aren't you always traveling. Well for Big Birthday years I up the game.

For my 40th I went to Australia and New Zealand with my Mom who was 65 the same year. I will treasure that trip with her forever and spending time with her sisters and brother and my cousins. I lived in a Australia for a year in my early twenties so it was lovely to see them all again and see where life had brought us.

For my 50th I spent a month in Botswana doing a 3 week safari getting to see some of the most endangered animals on planet and then a 6 day horseback safari that you were flown into on a tiny 2 seater plane. It was an incredible trip full of magic moments. Probably the most amazing was being chased by an elephant while on horse back.

For my 60th I am taking trips with family and close friends, spending time with those I love doing something I love. Thanks to my friend Angela we will travel as a family to see Andrea Bocelli for his outdoor concert it Italy. There are quite a few other trips some already completed and some yet to come.

This weekend we held a quilting retreat another one of my loves in life and although not complete yet my 60th Birthday quilt is well underway.

Life offers us a limited amount of time to take part in the things that make us happy in life. Don't put those things off - go out and do things while you can.

It's been ages since we have been at Marble Arch Caves. It's a magical place. It was great to see so many people there. We had a fantastic guide called Ciara and she had a wealth of information and we really encourage our tour of the caves.

Need to spend some time again over the next few months at our fantastic local tourist attractions.

Trapped in Sri Lanka with all these lovely ladies for

International Women’s Day

Our 10 day holiday has turned into a 20 day holiday as the world turns on its head.

We are making the most of our time out exploring in big and small groups.

Today 11 of us went to visit Richmond Castle outside of Kalutara. It has a beautiful romantic history.

Our tuk tuk driver greeted each of us this morning with Happy Woman's Day. And stopped at the local temple to pray for our safe keeping.

This has been a challenging room for so many reasons. The plans changed so many times despite the fact that I had a clear vision when we started. For now we have decided we leave it as an open space until it becomes apparent what it's new purpose is.

Thanks to the small village of people who made it happen.
