Our very own Sonnets and Sisters, Priorland and Poster People play in Toales, Dundalk tonight at 9pm as part of DKIT Rag Week 2018!!!!

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

The red weather warning that is currently in place will remain in place for tomorrow and Friday meaning that the Institute will remain closed until Monday morning. ⛄️

This means that RAG Week tickets will not go on sale until Monday morning at 10:30am in the Old College Bar. We apologise for this but unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this situation. We won’t sell tickets online due to the fact that DkIT Students wouldn’t be guaranteed to get the tickets if we did so. 💴😝

1st rehearsal of new Oriel Traditional Orchestra!

Last Saturday morning, 14th October, the first rehearsal of the newly formed Oriel Traditional Orchestra was held in the Workhouse.

Organised by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, this exciting community initiative brings together over fifty musicians of all ages from counties Armagh, Louth, Meath and Monaghan to create a new orchestra.

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is the largest non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music.

It is intended that the orchestra will participate in Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, which is the world’s biggest annual celebration of Irish music, language, song and dance. Attracting approximately 400,000 visitors to the host town, next year it will take place in Drogheda, Co. Louth, from Sunday, 12th August to Sunday, 19th August.

Such a fantastic show Wednesday evening in the Mac Anna theatre in Dkit Dundalk. After weeks of hard work with our legendary song writer John Marron last night's concert was a magical end to a fantastic project ... Well done to all involved!!

Music is full of double acts. Lennon and McCartney shouted for ‘Help!’, Jagger and Richards wanted satisfaction while Benny and Bjorn just said ‘thank you for the music’. In December 2015, a new musical partnership was realised in Dundalk that brought almost fifty performers take to the stage at the Mac Anna Theatre for an evening of original songs and music, which they wrote together over the previous two months. It was a very special concert that brought together a wonderful and diverse group of artists from RehabCare, DkIT, Coláiste Rís and the wider community.
