People create atmosphere far more than any performer standing in front of them. The organiser's job is to build an environment where they feel comfortable enough to actually join in.

Part four of 'Unravelling the red thread' looks at why audience participation can't be left to chance at a corporate event, and what goes into designing a room where people want to get involved rather than watch from the sidelines.

At AVCOM, curating that comfort is part of how we plan entertainment.

Attending a two-day European Congress means arriving somewhere unfamiliar and trusting that whoever designed the experience thought carefully about how that feels. For the insurance executives and policymakers who came to Dublin for AMICE Congress 2026, that trust was placed in AVCOM.

"There's nothing I could have wanted," said Sarah Goddard, Secretary General of AMICE. For 500+ member organisations from across Europe, that is the only measure that counts.

At AMICE Congress 2026, the Kaleidoscope concept was interpreted three-dimensionally, built into the spaces delegates moved through across two Dublin venues.

At Trinity College Dublin, a bespoke stage extension gave the audience a cleaner, more open relationship with the speakers across the two-day Congress programme. At IMMA - Irish Museum of Modern Art that evening, guests entered the Baroque Chapel to a live string quartet before moving into the Great Hall, where refractive surfaces and suspended geometric voile responded to shifting light as the evening progressed. Jiggy closed the night with a performance that brought the Congress theme to life in a way the physical environment alone could not.

Each moment was shaped to give delegates something to carry home beyond the programme content.

Then & Now has been a journey through stories and lessons that shaped the events industry.

This final episode closes with something every entrepreneur hopes for: the knowledge that what they built continued to grow, and that the foundation they laid turned out to be bigger than they knew.

There's a particular kind of pride in that. One that only comes from having put everything into something worth passing on.

Then, they built something remarkable. Now, it's ours to take further than they ever imagined.

Some of the most important feedback we can receive comes when a client chooses to keep working with us.

Aisling O'Kennedy, Marketing Director at Aramark, is that client. In this video, she shares what the relationship with AVCOM has looked like across multiple projects and what genuine ownership of a production brief actually means for the client who trusts you with it.

At AVCOM, that consistency is built from the first scoping session. By the time the doors open, the groundwork is already done.

Entertainment that works brilliantly at one event can fall flat at another built around a different theme or audience, and the difference usually comes down to fit rather than talent.

Part three of 'Unravelling the red thread' looks at what happens when entertainment is booked without a clear read on the room, and how the right interactive moment, even something as simple as 300 people finding the same rhythm together, can unify a crowd that a mismatched act would only alienate.

At AVCOM, we choose entertainment based on the audience in front of us, not a general idea of what corporate entertainment should look like.

If you work in events today, a last-minute schedule change means a few messages and an updated call sheet.

But there was a time when a last-minute call after a long show meant a very different kind of night than the one you'd planned, and getting to where you needed to be by morning was something you either sorted or you didn't - no shortcut and no backup plan.

This Then & Now video is a good reminder of how much has changed, and what it took to do this work before it got easier.

Picture ten countries, one trophy, and a camera rolling on every mystery basket reveal.

That was the brief for Aramark's International Chefs' Cup 2026: capture the competition as it happened, then hand teams a gala evening that felt like a céilí, not a corporate dinner. Our video crews chased every reaction across two teaching kitchens, cutting each day's competition into a highlight film before the next round even started. While the cameras ran, our design team shaped what guests would walk into that evening: a green carpet entrance, a Culinary Céilí forest and themed lifts that carried the Aramark brand throughout.

Three venues, one narrative, and not a beat lost between them.

Some stories from a career in production sound made up (but we swear this one isn't).

There are moments in the events industry that no job description prepares you for, and showing up to deliver a hard drive only to end up in a kitchen asking a stranger where the milk is is one of them.

Who that stranger turned out to be is what makes this short story worth watching.
