The gorgeous couple I had the honour of marrying , asked me to read out something the wrote from their hearts at the end of their humanist wedding ceremony. Always a lovely option for those who don’t want to do speeches or keep speeches for wedding party only.

The wonderful Edel and Dave wanted a joyful, humorous, light and family focused humanist wedding ceremony. We involved their 2 young children in the family Unity sand ceremony. The couple themselves had a Unity candle ceremony and each had a shot to close the ceremony, representing their choice to stay by each other’s sides no matter what life throws at them.

There are so many ways to include children in your humanist wedding ceremony.
A&S included their 5yr old in the candle lighting and Handbinding and Im her biggest role she helped me with the declaration - once I had declared her parents married I handed the little Disney fan the mic and she invited her parents to share a “true loves kiss”.
It was adorable!! She’d make a brilliant Celebrant!

I love when a couple introduces me to something new, like a Disney movie, a scientific theory they both love or in S&G’s case a song by .
I didn’t know the song so I went into study mode, handwriting the lyrics out and holding them in my head as I wrote the couples love story for their humanist wedding ceremony .
During the ceremony I spoke about how the Groom was driving and “Better Days” by Dermot Kennedy came on the radio. Sitting there, with S newly in his life, he felt something shift.
The lyrics seemed to speak directly to him: “Better days are comin’, better days are comin’ for you.” And for the first time in a while, he truly believed the rough time he had been going through had come to an end.

Unbeknownst to him, S loved that very same song.
When she heard it, she too would quietly think to herself, “I hope better days are to come.” Neither of them could have known then just how much those words would come to define their journey — not just hope for better days, but the certainty that they would face whatever came together.
As the song promises, “The rain, it ain’t permanent… and soon, we’ll be dancing in the sun.”
sang this song and plenty of others in their entirety and it was magical.
created this beautiful floral arrangement (which I purposely matched with!)
And was on hand capturing all of the special moments during the day.

Best proposal ever! “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.”

A fairly sweaty but fabulous day for C&T’s outdoor humanist wedding ceremony. With thanks to the brilliant staff keeping us all as cool as possible!!
The music we hear is from the talented .
I shared the story about how the couple met at an 18th birthday when the groom loudly ask “Who’s crap music is this?”. It of course belonged to the woman who would one day become his bride. In fairness she didn’t take offence and they quickly found a shared love not of music, obviously but of sports.
As a celebrant I never over share a couples story and I’m always aware of not sounding like I’m pretending to be their besties, even though I’m super enthusiastic about talking about them!!

They chose 2 lovely readings for guests to read including The Voyage (made famous by ).

Love this!

This is honestly so cool.

In a post shared on X (Twitter), user shared photos of her late brother’s casket. In the post’s caption, she explained that “he used to joke about making people put band stickers on his casket”, as well as throw candy inside.

While she “never thought that day would come so soon,” she and the rest of his loved ones “made sure he had the most punk coffin in history.”
