I love when a couple introduces me to something new, like a Disney movie, a scientific theory they both love or in S&G’s case a song by .
I didn’t know the song so I went into study mode, handwriting the lyrics out and holding them in my head as I wrote the couples love story for their humanist wedding ceremony .
During the ceremony I spoke about how the Groom was driving and “Better Days” by Dermot Kennedy came on the radio. Sitting there, with S newly in his life, he felt something shift.
The lyrics seemed to speak directly to him: “Better days are comin’, better days are comin’ for you.” And for the first time in a while, he truly believed the rough time he had been going through had come to an end.
Unbeknownst to him, S loved that very same song.
When she heard it, she too would quietly think to herself, “I hope better days are to come.” Neither of them could have known then just how much those words would come to define their journey — not just hope for better days, but the certainty that they would face whatever came together.
As the song promises, “The rain, it ain’t permanent… and soon, we’ll be dancing in the sun.”
sang this song and plenty of others in their entirety and it was magical.
created this beautiful floral arrangement (which I purposely matched with!)
And was on hand capturing all of the special moments during the day.
