The show was filmed from outdoor kitchens set up in our walled garden, with plenty West Cork produce on display, as well as our friend and neighbour Ahmet Dede, and his family and friends.

This article on Inish Beg by Finola is one of the best we have come across. Wonderful to hear and see Inish Beg described through fresh eyes, especially eyes that recognise an ancient (prehistoric art) cup-marked stone!

She brings out the romance of the setting too. We had a wedding here over the weekend and despite Storm Hannah it was a very romantic affair - the couple said all the more so as everyone stayed very close to each other throughout. Congratulations Kathleen and Patrick - we wish you a long and fulfilling life together.

Craving a woodland walk, we took ourselves to Inish Beg this week – and found a lot more than bluebells! This is a cillin, down beside the river. There are lots of stories associated with it …

Great turnout; over 400 people attended the Save Our Skibbereen Emergency Meeting last night in West Cork Hotel. A plastics factory in Skibbereen is not acceptable for many valid reasons and An Bord Pleanala should have upheld its own inspectors decision and not granted planning permission. The campaign to ensure this factory will never be built at Poundlick is already under way. Legal Counsel believe there is substantial grounds for Judicial Review proceedings and an initial Euro 15,000 is required within weeks - by late January - to fund a legal plea to the High Court for leave to do this, with further costs later assuming leave is granted. Donations big and small are welcome through the website www.saveourskibbereen.ie. Please donate, organise a fund-raiser of your own or support various fund-raising ideas already in the pipeline. The plan to build this factory was described as "madness, nonsense and simply criminal" by attendees at the meeting last night and the community vowed to fight for the clean air, clean water, beautiful countryside and good untainted food that we enjoy and to make sure it is still there for our grandchildren and their grandchildren to enjoy, all of which are synonymous with West Cork and this area in particular.
