About the Project:
Creating a Sustainable Christmas Tree from Crocheted and Knitted Squares
We are excited to embark on an eco-friendly project: crafting a beautiful nine-foot
Christmas tree entirely from crocheted and knitted squares. This initiative is all about
sustainability and upcycling, bringing together the community to create something
both beautiful and meaningful. Each square will be lovingly crafted by local knitters
and crocheters, transforming leftover wool and yarn into vibrant, cozy pieces. This
tree will not only stand as a symbol of creativity and community spirit but also as a
testament to the power of recycling and sustainability. It will then go on to become a
cherished part of our towns Christmas traditions, and we invite everyone to join in,
contribute, and be part of this wonderful collaborative effort.
The Knitmas Tree will then go onto be part of the
• The Sleeping Winter Garden housed in the walled heritage garden at the
Jackie Clarke Collection on Pearse street: This year, the garden will be
even more magical, featuring artistic sculptures, festive Christmas lights,
glitter balls, and more, all brought to life by ourselves and the creative arts students from one
of our local secondary schools Moyne College on Sunday 23 rd of November
2025.

Wow! What a fantastic week three of summer camp! We're so grateful to all the parents for entrusting us with your children. This week has been packed with fun activities: sewing, baking delicious treats, creating beautiful jewellery, getting our hands dirty in the garden, a thrilling sports day, and a spectacular talent show! We've witnessed incredible resilience, teamwork, and kindness. It's been inspiring to see the children's excitement when they accomplish something, even if it's not perfect. They've learned the importance of trying their best, supporting each other, and making new friends. Summer camp is about so much more than just activities; it's about fostering respect, friendship, and kindness. Thank you again for sharing your children with us!

Wow! What a fantastic Day 3 & 4 of Pandora's Box! The kids had an absolute ball creating tie-dye masterpieces, sculpting amazing clay models, and competing in our mini-Olympics. A massive thank you to all the parents who joined in the fun – your participation made it extra special! We also want to give a huge thank you to Alanna, our very own 'Lady of the Moy,' for attending every single workshop, lending a hand, and joining in the fun. The children absolutely adored her! And of course, a massive thank you to Ann Marie and the team at the Jackie Clarke Colection – without you, Pandora's Box wouldn't be possible! Finally, a big thanks to Valerie for capturing all the memories with her fantastic photos! 🥳

Day two of our Pandora Box events at the Jackie Clarke Collection was a whirlwind of creativity! Children created beautiful baskets in our weaving workshop, and we were so grateful to have Ann Finn (Mayo North East) join us at our craft stall. Alanna (Lady of the Moy) stopped by for a visit, too! Later, Valerie, Baiba, and I explored the fantastic stalls at the Ballina Salmon Festival. A truly memorable day!

What a fantastic first day of children's workshops as part of the Ballina Salmon Festival! We teamed up with our amazing friends at the Jackie Clarke Collection to bring you non-stop fun with balloon modelling, juggling balls, and slime-making. All three workshops were completely booked – what a turnout! Tomorrow's basket weaving workshop is also fully booked. A massive thank you to Ann Marie Forbes from the Jackie Clarke Collection for all her support and help in making this happen. The children were thrilled to be joined by Alanna, the Lady of the Moy – congratulations again, Alanna, on your crown! We're so grateful for your help.
