Every Child Deserves a Great Childhood
When I opened Tots + Swots in 2006, I wasn't thinking about building a business.
I was thinking about children.
I believed then, and I still believe today, that every child deserves a great childhood.
Childhood is such a small part of our lives, but it shapes who we become. As adults, we have the privilege and the responsibility of making those years happy, safe and full of wonderful memories.
That belief has guided every decision we've made at Tots + Swots.
People often ask what makes us different.
The answer isn't a building, a programme or a list of activities.
It's our culture.
We've always believed that happy children come first.
When children feel happy, safe and respected, they thrive. They play, they learn, they laugh and they build confidence.
We've also learned something else over the years.
Happy children help create happy staff.
When our team enjoys coming to work, they give their best to every child in their care. That creates a positive environment where everyone feels respected and valued.
And when children are happy and staff are happy, parents have confidence that their children are exactly where they should be.
That's why respect is one of our core values.
Respect for children.
Respect for parents.
Respect for each other.
Over the years we've watched hundreds of children grow.
Some of them still stop to say hello.
Some tell us they still remember the friends they made or the fun they had at Tots + Swots.
Those conversations remind us that what we do today can stay with a child for a lifetime.
One of our proudest moments came when a little girl who first joined us as a four-year-old and stayed until she finished primary school returned 7 years later as a member of our team while studying Early Childhood Education.
Watching one generation help inspire the next is a privilege that reminds us why we do what we do.
Whether a child spends one year or many years with us, we hope they leave with something that lasts far longer than their time in our care.
Confidence.
