Irish Powerlifting Federation Giving Irish lifters the opportunity to compete in the IPF and to represent Ireland on an international stage.

The all-Ireland body, as affiliated to the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), has representation across all 4 provinces and takes applications for membership from all 32 counties. Our members are eligible to compete internationally for Ireland and we proudly promote inclusivity and the highest standards of competition attendance.

Most importantly, thank you to the lifters and everyone who came to support them this morning. The atmosphere in the room was electric, and it never fails to impress seeing athletes step onto the platform and deliver after months of hard work.

On the platform, we saw incredible performances, titles defended, new winners crowned, limits tested and barriers broken, all in pursuit of medals, milestones and personal bests.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this such a memorable and successful event so far. We cant wait to see what the rest of the weekend holds.

🇭🇷 European Classic Powerlifting Championships 2024, Velica Gorica, Croatia 🇭🇷
We would like to wish the best of luck to our women’s team competing next week at EPF Open Euros.

Catherine Kilmartin -63
After a podium finish and deadlift record at Open Nationals 2023, Catherine continued to build momentum through the year. She made her debut for Team Éire at Western Euros, picking up some medals along the way. She sits nominated in the top 10 in a stacked 63kg class. At Christmas Qualifier we saw her PB her total yet again, and extend her National deadlift record. She narrowly missed 210kg on her final deadlift, which if successful this time around could be enough for a deadlift medal.

Jordan Bright -69
Our 2023 Open and Junior National Champions makes her Open Team debut and finds herself already amongst some of the best lifters in Europe in the 69kg A group. Her strongest lift without a doubt is squat, owning the 190.5kg National record, and fighting for a medal in this lift will no doubt be on the game plan. She is now closing in on the national bench record and has lifted more than Bronagh McPeake's 4 year standing total record in training.

Ally O’Reilly -84
After a successful top 5 finish at the World Championships in Malta and bench press silver, Ally won best female lifter at Christmas Qualifier hitting a huge 200kg milestone squat. She sits nominated 3rd for Euros with some stiff competition from behind for podium. Ally is fantastic at fighting through big lifts and no doubt whatever is needed for the final pull will be loaded.

January Open 2024 Recap

Hosting in a new venue is always a challenge, but Matty and Ayshea are pros at their own events and made it run very smoothly. Contributions from multiple gyms and federation members made this one of the most community-sourced opens we've had in years. These meets are a huge undertaking but it’s worth it when you see people cap off their hard work on platforms supported by everyone in the community.

There were some very impressive performances with lots of newer lifters announcing themselves in spectacular fashion. Conor Connolly won best male lifter with 441.79 DOTS in his first competition and Claire McCann won best female lifter with 406.34 DOTS with this only being her second competition!

We had a huge turnout of Sub-Juniors and Juniors and several received invites based on this competition, not to mention the many lifters who hit the QT for open entry tickets.

There were plenty of standout moments over the weekend and here are a few we wanted to mention:

🔸Vincent Ncube in the -59s stole the show with his strength!
🔸-69kg Sub-junior Eveline Coman’s incredible final pull of 160kg
🔸Joshua Ola in the -74s with a sweet 600+ total!
🔸The battle between Keira Loftus and Megan Weir in the -63s
🔸All of the strong -76kg women, especially powerhouse Sarah Doyle and our very own Treasurer, Clarice Tighe, with her incredible return to the platform!
🔸The -83kg men for bringing the hype on Sunday evening; Freddy Burrows, Vadim Kalinin and Shane McGarry in the Open and Dylan Stapleton, David Lawlor and Evan Delaney in the Sub-Juniors!
🔸Donna Ivie and Sandra Masterson in the 84+, showing perseverance to the end
🔸The 105s putting on a show; Joseph Penco and Michael Dallat brought the crowd to their feet on the Saturday PM Session and showed high calibre strength is building in the open comps, with numbers we used to only see at Nationals

Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed to this event. To the lifters, their supporters, their coaches/handlers, the committee members, refs, media and livestream, people who contributed time and resources to this meet and especially everyone at GSP!
