Ngebakan atau Siraman Pernikahan Adat Sunda

Menjelang hari pernikahan, prosesi siraman pun dilakukan. Prosesi ini bertujuan agar menyucikan calon mempelai wanita secara lahir dan batin.

Upacara Siraman merupakan prosesi dari rangkaian upacara pernikahan, untuk mengawali dalam merias calon pengantin. Dalam upacara ini, banyak terdapat lambang atau simbol yang dapat dijadikan sebagai pelajaran atau pedoman bagi calon pengantin, untuk mengarungi kehidupan berumah tangga.

Sebagian besar masyarakat Jawa percaya bahwa upacara siraman akan meluruhkan noda-noda di masa lalu sang calon pengantin. Diharapkan dengan upacara siraman, calon pengantin dapat lebih siap memasuki gerbang pernikahan dan melupakan noda-noda yang tertoreh di masa lalu.
