In everyday life, we are often faced with various things that make us feel dissatisfied or even complain. This is normal, because everyone has different needs and desires. However, if we focus too much on our shortcomings or dissatisfaction, it will be difficult for us to empathize and be grateful.
Empathy is the ability to understand and feel what other people feel. Meanwhile, gratitude is an attitude of gratitude for what we have. These two things are related, because empathy can help us to be more aware of what other people have, so that we can be more grateful for what we have.
One way to increase empathy and gratitude is to look down. What this means is, we need to realize that in this world there are still many people who are less fortunate than us. They may not have what we have, both in terms of materials, education, and opportunities.
When we look down, we will realize that we are actually lucky people. We have what we need to live well. We also have the opportunity to achieve our goals and dreams.
Of course, looking down doesn't mean that we have to feel guilty or sorry for what we have. However, looking down can help us to better appreciate what we have and become better people.
In this way we can be more aware that we are part of this world and that we have a responsibility to help others.
