Lots of creations this past week - we covered a lot of ground, but this time of year is rich in flowers, branches and foliages.

Texture, colour abd fruiting branches are ideal sources of inspiration and everyone did very well.

A bit of a break maybe ahead but keep creating when you can. Ikebana is not just in class but can be anytime or anywhere 🌿🍁

This week we were back to learning - from book 4 and book 2.

The autumn brings rich flowers and changing leaves - so a good range to chose from. Our designs picked up on the feel as well - with windswept lines.

We also played a little with colour - how changing the base colour can add contrast or strengthen a particular colour.

Today we looked at seasonal designs - exploring autumn, winter, Christmas - so using ikebana to evoke and celebrate a particular occassion.

This is actually very common and can be used throughout the year to acknowledge the changing seasons as much as anything.

This was also the perfect time with figs on branch, beautiful berries and grasses.

Today’s lesson was designs that work from all round - this can be challenging, especially after normally working from one viewpoint - front facing , then thinking about the view from either side. So this takes it to the full view version.

In the pictures you can see each design from different sides - and they work well. Nice use of colours , textures and seasonal materials.

The previous lesson designs with Sue And Carole - In this lesson we were making a feature of the stems at the base of the design - so exaggerating the length a little.

This gives a very elegant look. We also had some freestyle designs using the flowers in other ways.

Good work and the next lesson is all round designs - so needing to be good from every angle!

This weeks designs with some interesting materials and results.

The lesson explored foliage in combination with- so contrast of texture, colour, shapes, scale - all in combination, with maybe a highlight flower.

I think the results are really varied and good.

Next lesson is Monday coming - looking forward to seeing the designs for our next session.

Today saw more study with an extra session - again mass and line, and some beautiful designs.

Good work Carole!

I think the next session is going to really be fun - a play with foliage and leaves - so an exploration of shape, texture, colours, size ….
