Program offer: Bonjour Monsieur Gauguin! 🎨

This autumn, Budapest welcomes a major exhibition dedicated to Paul Gauguin at the Museum of Fine Arts.

Opening on 28 October, the exhibition presents almost 150 works, including more than 80 by Gauguin, tracing his artistic development and the influences that shaped his work.

Alongside his paintings, visitors can see works by some of the most important artists of the late 19th century, including Gustave Courbet, Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Émile Bernard and Paul Sérusier.

The exhibition brings together works from almost 40 museums and collections, including the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Tate in London, MoMA and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

September in Hungary: wine, harvest and live music 🍂 🍷

As summer slowly gives way to autumn, Hungary’s countryside comes alive with harvest celebrations, wine events and open-air music. If you’re looking for an authentic experience beyond Budapest, here are four great options for September:

🎶 Tokaj Street Music Festival | 11–13 September
In the historic wine town of Tokaj, nearly 100 bands and music acts take over the streets and squares for three days. From blues and jazz to acoustic pop, you can enjoy live music while exploring one of Hungary’s most famous wine regions.

🍇 Mátrai Harvest Days & White Wine Festival | Gyöngyös | 11–13 September
Just over an hour from Budapest, Gyöngyös is a gateway to the Mátra Mountains. Local wineries, traditional harvest dishes, live concerts, a craft market and a colourful harvest parade create a lively weekend celebrating the region’s white wines.

🍷 Harvest Festival in the Valley of the Beautiful Woman | Eger | 12 September
Eger’s famous wine quarter is the perfect place to experience Hungarian wine culture. Explore the open wine cellars, join guided cellar tours, taste local wines and fresh grape must, and enjoy traditional harvest delicacies, a festive parade and live music.

🎻 MUSTRA – Klasszik Street – Music Harvest Festival | Pécs | 18–19 September
In the historic centre of Pécs, classical music leaves the concert hall and moves into the streets and squares. Solo and chamber performances turn the city into an open-air stage, combining the elegance of classical music with the informal atmosphere of street performances.

Hungary meets the Americas in the heart of Budapest 🍷

This September, Budapest becomes a meeting point for the wines of Hungary and the Americas. From 9–12 September, the 35th Budapest Wine Festival returns to the historic Buda Castle, bringing together more than 1,000 Hungarian wines and sparkling wines with the exciting flavours of the New World.

This year, the Americas are the festival’s special guest, inviting visitors on a wine journey of more than 10,000 kilometres: from the sun-soaked vineyards of California, through the high-altitude vineyards of the Andes, to the Atlantic-influenced wine regions of Uruguay and the sparkling wine regions of Brazil.

Alongside this international journey, Hungary’s own wine regions take centre stage, with renowned wineries, exciting new discoveries and the chance to meet winemakers and explore their wines through guided tastings.

And there is more to discover beyond the wine: Hungarian gastronomy, professional talks, tastings and live music create an atmospheric experience in one of Budapest’s most spectacular locations.

20th August at Lake Balaton – A Magical Summer Evening ✨

20th August is Hungary’s national holiday, celebrating St. Stephen, the country’s first king, and the founding of the Hungarian state.
Celebrations take place across the country, and around Lake Balaton, the evening comes alive with fireworks, concerts and special events. Tihany, however, offers something truly special.🎆

Starting at 9:30 p.m., a spectacular lakeside celebration begins, with the historic Tihany Abbey at its heart.
The nearly 1,000-year-old walls become the backdrop for an impressive light show, bringing Hungarian history and the legends of Tihany to life.

The light show in Tihany will run between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m., while fireworks will light up the sky later in Balatonfüred and Zamárdi, among other locations.

Imagine the Abbey glowing above Lake Balaton, with the lights of the celebrations reflecting across the water.

Budapest has just taken the top spot in Europe. 🙌

The Hungarian Parliament Building has been named Europe’s most beautiful architectural landmark in a new ranking by British travel magazine LoveExploring — beating iconic sights such as Vienna’s Belvedere Palace, Switzerland’s Chillon Castle, Mont-Saint-Michel in France and even Rome’s Trevi Fountain.

And once you see it from the Danube, it’s easy to understand why.

Opened in 1902, the Neo-Gothic masterpiece designed by Imre Steindl is one of Budapest’s defining landmarks. Its vast façade, soaring dome, ornate interiors, frescoes and stained-glass windows make it just as impressive from the inside as it is from across the river.

But there’s one moment when the building feels truly magical: after sunset, when the lights come on and the Parliament rises above the Danube, reflected in the water.

For international visitors, it’s more than a photo stop. It’s one of those Budapest moments that stays with you long after the trip is over. 😍

Some of the best team experiences begin with seeing familiar places from a new perspective.

During our recent team discovery day, we stepped away from our everyday routines and explored Budapest’s hidden stories – discovering new details and experiences that we can later share with our international guests.

Our first stop was the Hungarian State Opera House, where a fascinating guided tour revealed the history, architecture and little-known stories behind this masterpiece designed by Miklós Ybl, one of Hungary’s greatest architects.

One of the highlights was a magical moment on the grand staircase: surrounded by the stunning interiors of the Opera House, we enjoyed a short live performance by two talented opera artists. Listening to famous opera arias in such a historic setting was a wonderful reminder that Budapest is not just a destination to visit – it is a city to experience.

During the tour, we also admired the Royal Box, where important guests and even members of royalty have enjoyed performances throughout the Opera House’s history, and had the chance to take a seat in the magnificent auditorium – an unforgettable way to experience the atmosphere of one of Europe’s most beautiful opera houses.

We also discovered some fascinating details of the building, including its magnificent chandelier weighing almost three tonnes, which can still be lowered for maintenance today. We learned that the elegant fireplace in one of the salons was created mainly as a symbol of prestige rather than for heating – a small detail reflecting the grandeur and traditions of the 19th century.

The next part of our day took us to Városligeti Fasor (City Park Avenue), where we followed a specially designed team-building roadbook while exploring its elegant Art Nouveau villas and hidden architectural gems.

Later, we made our way to the historic Castle Garden Bazaar and the charming streets of the Buda Castle District. We also paused by the Statue of the Virgin Mary and enjoyed breathtaking views over the Danube, the Parliament and the Pest side of Budapest. A ride on the Castle Hill Funicular was the perfect way to round off another unforgettable Budapest experience.

Even after years of working with visitors from around the world, our capital continues to surprise us. Every new story we discover becomes another experience we can share with our guests.

Celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory once again created the official trophies for the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix. 🏆

When the winners stepped onto the podium at the Hungaroring, they lifted more than a trophy – they raised one of Hungary’s most iconic cultural treasures before a global audience.

Each trophy took nearly a year to create, from shaping and firing to the final hand-painted details. Inspired by traditional Hungarian folk art, this year’s design features Herend’s signature ornamentation in gold, platinum and bronze, reflecting the three podium positions.

The Hungarian Grand Prix once again gave Hungary the opportunity to showcase one of its finest traditions to millions of viewers around the world.
