Back when Tribal, House and Trance sounds were slowly consolidating into the genre nowadays known as Progressive House. The genre prided itself on journey: a set was architecture, not a playlist. Labels like , , Renaissancemusic, , , , Saw Records, Lost Language and legendary mix compilations like and were the hardware backbone of the scene.
Clubs and venues like Twilo NYC and became veritable cathedrals to whom Progressive pilgrims ventured to hear their favourite artists play on their favourite soundsystems.
DJs and music producers like James Holden , Sasha & John Digweed , , , , , , , .anthony , and many many others were producing and playing these sounds in an emerging global underground circuit that still goes on to this day.
For some reason however many will say the sweet spot of the scene was around these early 2000 years, the scene was fresh, the crowds were there for the music and the event organizers were self declared Progressive lovers themselves and, maybe most importantly, no phones!
I was lucky to be out clubbing and visiting Festivals right around this time. Club nights like Chemistry (NL) and festivals like Innercity Festival (NL) and Festival (NL) were formative to my musical taste and my way of playing music
