【裁縫之都】香港曾是東方「薩維爾街」

這張照片出自美國海軍陸戰隊檔案館（USMC Archives / CC BY 2.0）。一九六四年，名叫 Warren Smith 的軍人隨艦停靠香港，鏡頭下的城市，正處於一段風華正茂的時光。那天，他走進一家裁縫店，為自己度身訂製西裝，也順手為裁縫師傅拍下影像。

那個年代，香港的針線生意堪稱輝煌。手工細膩、收費合理，名聲傳遍遠近。無論是旅途中的洋客、水兵，還是政商名流，來港時總少不了量一套合身的西裝，作為此行的紀念。

裁縫店多聚於中環、灣仔、尖沙咀一帶，霓虹閃爍之間，熙來攘往的街頭盡是量體、試身的身影。有人說，那時的香港，就像東方的Savile Row（薩維爾街）——倫敦上流紳士雲集的裁縫街，只是這裡的氣息更為熱鬧，混合了東方的勤巧與西方的格調。

至於香港為何能成為「裁縫之都」，眾說紛紜。有人指，國共內戰後，不少上海師傅南來謀生，帶來了精湛的手藝與講究的審美，使行業更上層樓。

但事實上，早在戰前，香港已不乏名師。例如張國榮的父親張活海，據說於三十年代便在中區開店，名聲遠播。這座城市，自開埠以來便中西交融，文化交錯的土壤孕育出獨特的風格，也讓一針一線之間，縫出了香港的氣度、時代的造型。

In 2021 and 2020, Trooping the Colour was scaled down and held at Windsor Castle with The Queen watching on alone due to Covid.

About the Trooping:

George II started the tradition in 1748 of combining his birthday celebration with an annual military parade. With his birthday in November, he felt the weather would be too cold for a parade. This tradition continues today with The King celebrating his birthday in June officially, despite being born in November.
