Xiaolin is a Hong Kong and London-based DJ/producer with a brave new sound inspired by her rich musical background and Hong Kong upbringing. A graduate of The Juilliard School for classical violin and Berklee College of Music for jazz and music technology, she stands out as a true musician in the gritty electronic music scene. She has played at clubs such as Fabric London and Cafe d’Anvers in Antwerp. Having grown up listening to jazz, she later found solace in Larry Heard, Prodigy, The Roots, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin and Kraftwerk, which shaped her musical taste. She began collecting records in 2019 and now plays a mixture of vinyl and digital tracks weaving through varied genres from ambient and disco to breakbeat, acid and electro. Xiaolin sets dancefloors alight with her meticulous track selection and punchy yet dreamy flair. An avid synth collector, Xiaolin produces Cantonese-inspired music that pays homage to the past, often incorporating her own original violin and vocal samples.

Lessons learned this year:
1) outside validation can be encouraging but it doesn’t define us, it means nothing if you don’t believe in yourself - this requires inner work
2) things happen for a reason, good ones guide the way and bad ones help us grow
3) touring requires physical discipline and mental strength
4) loneliness is just a passing feeling, we are never really alone as many go through the same thing, we just don’t talk about it
5) nothing is forever, things come and go it is natural just ride the wave and observe the feeling, it will pass
6) misunderstandings happen when people cannot see the other’s perspective, but at the end of the day we are all just trying to find joy in life so actually the goal is the same
7) you cannot control what people think of you, what they feel is a reflection of what they are going through, so just do your thing with as much love and honesty as possible - those who see that will find you
8) be kind and patient because it will always come back around
9) when the water is calm, the reflection is clear

Happy new year~ let’s make this one count. See you wildlings on the other side!
