Expressing our gratitude...

This year's Local Content Summit was nothing short of transformational.

We came. We connected. We committed to the next level. What a Summit!

Hosting this activity for three consecutive years requires innovative and strategic thinking and planning towards success.

From high-impact panels to real-time problem-solving, the conversations sparked bold ideas and actionable change. Our speakers unpacked local content policy, tackled financing barriers, explored partnerships, and celebrated innovation rooted in community.

The strength of Local Content lies in collaboration.

At our 3rd annual Local Content Summit, we were reminded that allies - whether from government, private sector, or civil society - are essential to driving meaningful progress. When we work together, we unlock opportunity and sustainability.

Here’s to our exhibitors, sponsors and alliances who show up, speak up, and stand up for local growth - whether it's at the Summit or elsewhere, thank you.

Your support, presence, and belief in the vision of local empowerment helped us bring together voices, ideas, and solutions that will shape our future.

This summit wouldn't be possible without you.

Industry Perspectives Panel:

Access to Financing - Let’s Fix This

We’ve been hearing it for a while now - access to financing remains one of the biggest challenges for local businesses, especially for women-led and small enterprises.

But today’s final panel wasn’t just talk - it was a spirited and solutions-oriented discussion. From innovative financing models to partnerships with local banks, from business partnerships to joint ventures, the panelists shared key interventions they are actively supporting and leading in building local capacity and improving access to capital.

The energy was real. The ideas were bold. And the commitment to change was clear.

The only way forward is together.

Successes, Challenges, and Advocacy Issues

We approach these discussions because both foreign and local entities are contributing to our national development. Even as the Local Content Act was put in place, many foreign companies continued to show interest in working with local companies. They play a major role in society with sponsorship, training, and support.

When some people speak or hear of local content they think it's "us" against "them".

In some instances, we need to change how we approach these discussions because both foreign and local entities are contributing to our national development. Even as the Local Content Act was put in place, many of the foreign companies continue to show interest in working with local companies. They play a major role in the society with sponsorship, training and support.

A vocal advocate for the Local Content Act (LCA) in Guyana, Sanjeev Datadin, MP and attroney-at-law:

The Act is crucial for ensuring substantial benefits for Guyanese citizens and businesses from the nation's oil resources.

The Act has significantly contributed to retaining billions within the local economy by prioritising Guyanese participation in the oil sector.

The efficiencies of the Petroleum sector can possibly be extended to other sectors by use of the Local Content Act.

More than 1,100 companies are certified employing more than 6,500 people

Revenues of the companies exceed $525m and projected to grow to $700m.

The surplus of the Oil and Gas sector can be directed to other sectors as designated by the Government to improve their efficiencies by requiring companies to show they generate a percentage of their revenues from other sectors to keep their certificate.

Panel: Joint Ventures & Consortia - Building Smarter Partnerships

Thinking about forming a joint venture, consortium, or strategic partnership? This panel dove into what it takes to build strong, sustainable business alliances in the local content space.

Here are some key insights they shared:

- Do your due diligence: Research thoroughly before entering any agreement.

- Choose the right partner: Align with individuals or companies that are reliable, accountable, and share your vision.

- Find common ground: Shared goals, values, and work ethics are the foundation of successful partnerships.

- Understand market needs: Assess both your individual and combined capacity to deliver.

- Be value-driven: Ensure your partner is equally committed to creating real, long-term value.

- Seek legal advice: Protect your interests with proper legal guidance.

- Discuss finances upfront: Transparency is key to trust and longevity.

- Document everything: Clearly outline expectations, responsibilities, timelines, and deliverables in writing.

This session was important for entrepreneurs, contractors, and businesses seeking to scale through collaboration in Guyana’s rapidly evolving energy and services sectors.

Hon. Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat:

'There is no other country that has gone from discovery to producing 650,000 barrels of oil per day in 10 years like Guyana has. And with plans to double that in just three more years, Guyana is now seen as a true trailblazer in the global energy sector.'
