Τα οικογενειακά Σαββατοκύριακα μας αναβαθμίζονται στην φύση: χωρίς ουρές, χωρίς κρατήσεις, χωρίς έλεγχο χρόνου οθόνης. Μόνο ένας ελαιώνας. 🫒

Μέχρι το τέλος Νοεμβρίου, τα Σαββατοκύριακά μας είναι κάπως έτσι: μπότες εργασίας με κοκκινόχωμα, ρούχα με λεκέδες από ελιά και ένας αιωνόβιος ελαιώνας για στέκι.

🌿 Πολλή δράση σε εξωτερικό χώρο, οξυγόνο και βιταμίνη D με… «το τσουβάλι»

🌿 Εμπλουτισμός μικροβιώματος από την επαφή με χώμα που δεν έχει δει ποτέ χημικά, γιατί η γη ανήκε πάντα στην οικογένειά μας

🌿 Υγιεινό βιολογικό φαγητό. Φεύγεις πιο καθαρός/ή από ό,τι ήρθες (εσωτερικά, όχι εξωτερικά…sorry)

🌿 Παιδιά που σκαρφαλώνουν ελεύθερα, εξερευνούν και γνωρίζουν τη φύση από κοντά

Yesterday we got the first rain on the farm after many months. The earth was thirsty, the trees too. And I’ll admit — we felt it too, that chill on our skin, the hydration sinking back in after the long dry summer.
That distinctive scent of soil at the first autumn rain is almost a comfort — it brings us straight to cozy short days and long nights by the fireplace.

Ενθουσιάζεστε κι εσείς όταν αλλάζει η εποχή; Ακόμα και από το καλοκαίρι στο φθινόπωρο;

Χθες ήρθε η πρώτη βροχή στην φάρμα μετά από μήνες. Η γη διψούσε, τα δέντρα το ίδιο. Κι εμείς όμως ομολογώ ότι νιώσαμε ωραία με τη δροσιά στο δέρμα μας, νιώσαμε την ενυδάτωση μετά το μακρύ ξηρό καλοκαίρι.
Αυτή η χαρακτηριστική μυρωδιά του χώματος στην πρώτη βροχή του φθινοπώρου είναι σχεδόν παρηγορητική — μας γυρνάει στις cozy σύντομες μέρες και τις μεγάλες νύχτες δίπλα στο τζάκι.

🎈Happy birthday to the visionary of Eumelia.

Twenty five years ago, he was ahead of his time. He could picture a more sustainable living, a life outside the cities, free from the ties of industry. He could see the difficulties our society faces today, long before the rest of us, and so he created a safe haven, first for his family, and later for the guests who would come to share in it.

Over the years, he has welcomed thousands of guests into a more sustainable and more peaceful way of living in nature, and trained hundreds of volunteers and interns in regenerative farming and hospitality.

But most importantly, he built a place to raise his family in a more natural way, his wife and his two sons growing up close to the land. It’s something even he never saw coming. He was so focused on building this place that he couldn’t have known how it would shape his own life in return.

Because Eumelia became a school for him too, teaching him strength, self reliance, and what it truly means to have a safe place to call home.

Happy birthday, Frangiskos.

Ο Αύγουστος είναι για τον Αυγουστιάτη — και το Αθήρι, και την Κυδωνίτσα. Οι τρεις ποικιλίες μας ωριμάζουν μαζί, τρυγιούνται μαζί, και πιέζονται κατευθείαν μαζί.

Δεν υπάρχουν ξεχωριστές δεξαμενές, ούτε γίνεται η ανάμειξη μετά — είναι ένα «field blend», ένα χαρμάνι που διαμορφώνεται στο χωράφι, όπως γίνεται εδώ ανέκαθεν.

It’s easy to say. Here’s how to feel it, wherever you’re staying:

🌱 Take a walk in the garden before dinner. See what’s actually growing — it’ll probably be on your plate tonight.

🍅 Ask the staff what’s in season. The best ones light up when you ask. They’ll tell you about the tree, the field, the morning it was picked.

🥦 Notice if the menu breathes with the seasons. Real farm cooking changes its rhythm — tomatoes in August, greens in winter. That’s the tell.

🐓 Ask where the leftovers go. The ones who close the circle — compost, animals, the soil again — are the ones truly living it.

Το ακούς όλο και πιο συχνά. Να όμως πώς να το καταλάβεις και εσύ:

🌱 Κάνε μια βόλτα στον κήπο πριν το δείπνο. Δες τι φυτρώνει αυτή την εποχή — μάλλον θα το βρεις απόψε στο πιάτο σου.

🫒 Ρώτα το προσωπικό τι είναι της εποχής. Όσο πιο πολύ ενέργεια έχουν βάλει για τον κήπο τους τόσο πιο πολύ χαίρονται με τον ενδιαφέρον των επισκεπτών . Θα σου πουν για το δέντρο, το χωράφι, την σοδιά της ημέρας και πως τα να μαγειρέψεις μόνος σου!

🍅 Πρόσεξε αν το μενού αναπνέει με τις εποχές. Η αληθινή κουζίνα από τη γη αλλάζει ρυθμό — ντομάτες τον Αύγουστο, χόρτα τον χειμώνα. Θα αναθεωρήσεις και εσύ την επόμενη φορά που θα πας να αγοράσεις μπρόκολο τον Αύγουστο...

🌾 Ρώτα πού καταλήγουν τα βρώσιμα υπολείμματα. Όσοι κλείνουν τον κύκλο — κομπόστ, ζώα, πίσω στο χώμα — αυτοί το ζουν φουλ!
