Greek Lesson #2 - Terms of Affection

Living in Crete has given us the opportunity to become familiar with some often-used Greek words and expressions, so we freely offer our knowledge because we feel so generous today!
(we might feel like that next week as well as the week after so you better keep checking in!)

GREEK LESSON #1 - How to greet others

Hello = Yasoo (Yah-soo)
(singular form, informal, speaking to a single person)
Yasas (Yah-sas)
(plural form, formal - polite, speaking to one or more people)

Good morning = Kalimera (pronounced: kah-lee-MEH-rah)

Good afternoon = Kalispera (pronounced: kah-lee-SPEH-rah)
Good evening = Kalispera (Kalispera is only used when first greeting someone, not when leaving)

Good night= Kalinihta (pronounced: kah-lee-NEE-hta)

Goodbye = Antio (an-TEE-o)
(Yah-soo or Yah-sas can also be used to say goodbye)

How are you? = Pos Ise (EE-se)

What's going on = Ti kanis (KA-nees)

I'm well = Ime kala (EE-me ka-LA)

Thank you = Efcharisto (ef-ha-ri-STO)

Our very first Summer Fayre is coming up: Sunday 6th August 2017 at the Manousakis Winery, Vatolakkos, Chania. We have live bands including the singer Margarita Cox, a tango demonstration, international food court, cocktail bar, and children’s activity area. No entrance fee.

Coach
We are now booking coach places which are limited, please contact us if you would like a place:
• 17:00 Almyrida Car Park
• 17:15 Kalyves car park
• 22:00 Manousakis Winery return to Kalives and Almyrida
10 euros per person return. Seats must be pre-paid before the day. [email protected].

Auction
We are delighted to publish this amazing auction list. All items have been kindly donated so proceeds will go to the campaign .
We would love to see you at the event, but if you cannot come please send us a pre-bid. Look through the list, then email us at [email protected] for further details or to send your bid.
On the day of the Fayre, if yours is the highest bid we will contact you the day after to arrange for payment and collection. Simple.
