Back in the early days, Ibiza nightlife didn’t follow normal rules… because technically, there weren’t any.
At Space Ibiza, one of the most iconic clubs in history, they found a loophole that changed everything. Authorities had strict closing times, but no official opening hours.
So instead of fighting the system, they flipped it.
The club would reopen early in the morning, sometimes as early as 8AM, serving breakfast while the previous night’s crowd kept going. Tourists leaving hotels would walk straight into the dancefloor. No reset, no pause… just a continuous party.
This is how the legendary “after-hours” culture in Ibiza was born. Not as a concept, but as a workaround.
For years, it created a completely different rhythm on the island. Day blurred into night, and Ibiza became the only place where time didn’t really matter.
Eventually, regulations caught up. The loophole was closed, schedules became stricter, and that raw, unpredictable energy started to fade.
But that era?
That’s what built the Ibiza everyone talks about today.
