Half-term holidays as a flower farmer are never exactly restful! It’s been a very physical week so far, battling the storms, wind and rain, clearing beds, planting out hardy annuals and tucking my dahlias up for winter while I have more time to do it!

But at the end of a long, muddy day, I fancied doing something a little more creative and so this autumnal wreath came to life.

I wish you could smell it! The eucalyptus and rosemary are just divine, mixing with the earthy scent of drying autumnal bracken and those beautiful yellowing leaves from the mulberry tree. All a little wild, a little unruly, and full of the beauty of the season.

A reminder that even after the hard graft, there’s always room for a little creativity and a moment to slow down and enjoy what’s growing all around us and how the seasons change from one to another. 🤎🧡❤️

The last bucket of dahlias in the late October sunshine ☀️

There’s something about this time of year that makes you stop for a moment and take it all in.

It’s been a tough year for us as flower farmers, and as the season comes to an end, it’s time to start winding things down and give the field a bit of a rest. The dahlias need cutting back, hardy annuals need planting, and there’s plenty to do to get everything ready for winter.

But before we say goodbye to another season, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. Every flower purchase, every bouquet, and every wedding or event we’ve been lucky enough to be part of has meant so much. It’s a real privilege to provide flowers for such special occasions, and I’m so grateful you choose us to be a little part of your day. 🤍

While the dahlias might be coming to an end, there’s no sitting still for long! We’re now getting ready for our wreath workshops and can’t wait to welcome you all for some festive fun. 🎄✨ Time to swap the summer flowers for foliage, berries and all things Christmassy!

Meet my newest, little apprentice - my youngest nephew, joining us out in the flower field as we plant out some hardy annuals! 💚

There’s something so special about sharing the world of flower farming with the next generation. Teaching them that flowers don’t just magically appear in a bucket or a vase, but start with a seed, a little soil, plenty of care, and a whole lot of patience. 🌱

It’s about more than growing flowers, too. It’s about learning to respect nature, looking after the bees and pollinators, understanding the seasons, getting our hands dirty, and appreciating all the little things that make our natural world so wonderful. 🐝

Here’s to muddy boots, curious minds, little helpers, and nurturing a love for nature that will hopefully bloom for years to come. Even if my job list takes a little longer to complete! ❤️

🌸 Celebrating dahlia season 🌸

Bold, beautiful and endlessly varied - dahlias are one of nature’s greatest little treasures. 🧡

We love this time of year in the flower field, soaking up every bloom and celebrating the colour, abundance and beauty that nature gives us even after the toughest of summers!

A gentle reminder to slow down, appreciate the seasons and enjoy the magic growing all around us. ✨

🎄✨ Christmas Wreath Workshops 2026 ✨🎄

Come and join us for one of our fun, festive workshops where you will create your own beautiful Christmas wreath to adorn your door. 🌿🎄

Using high-quality, seasonal foliage and a selection of festive decorations, you’ll be guided through the process and create a wreath to take home and enjoy throughout the Christmas season.

We’re delighted to be returning to the lovely Whiteley’s Home Farm Café in Alne, where your workshop will also include a delicious homemade treat and a hot drink. ☕️🍰

It’s been an exciting day here at Mayfield Farm Flowers! 💚🌿

I’m now the very proud owner of a VAN! 🚐🥳

A huge thank you to York Van Centre for being amazing and helping us get our new wheels all kitted out. And a special thank you to Chris Kay for all your help throughout the process - we really appreciate it! 💚

This van is going to make such a difference to Mayfield Farm Flowers. It’ll make delivering our flowers so much easier, giving us more space and making those flower-filled journeys a whole lot smoother! 🌸💐

Here’s to lots of happy miles, plenty of flowers and exciting adventures ahead! 🚐🌷✨

For Emma 🩷

This bouquet was full of flowers grown lovingly on the farm with a few additions grown by Emma’s mum, Anne, which was such a special touch! ✨

This was early on the morning of the wedding, everything was calm and the sky was glorious ahead of a beautiful day for Emma and Will!

We’re so looking forward to seeing the photos from .uk 📸
